Job DescriptionJob SummarySupervises and performs a variety of work connected with the operations, maintenance inspections and testing of wind turbine sites. Performs varied electrical, mechanical, and instrument and control activities and other duties necessary to maintain the generation facility to which they are assigned.
Employees selected for this role must reside within 120 miles of the assigned facilityWhat you will do- Supervises and performs such wind turbine operations, inspections and maintenance as may be assigned such as:
- Coaches, facilitates and trains wind farm generating station employees as necessary in all areas of plant operations and maintenance; maintains plant training records.
- In the absence of the generating facility manager, handles the normal supervisory activities for the generating station as assigned. In unusual situations or emergencies, contacts the generating facility manager.
- Responds to emergency call-outs during off-duty hours and/or arranges call-out of the other personnel as needed.
- Assists with the details of planning and engineering work, listing materials, repairing work orders, organizing work and vacation schedules, assigning duties, and carrying out construction and maintenance work.
- Assures the efficient operation of all work crews, minimizes lost time and promotes high standards of plant productivity.
- Prepares and maintains adequate and accurate reports and records.
- Maintains warehouse, orders supplies as needed.
- Maintains performance monitoring and control equipment, including programmable logic controllers (PLC's).
- Performs electrical, mechanical, and instrument and control and PLC troubleshooting, maintaining, calibrating, repairing, cleaning, inspecting and constructing of equipment and systems for the wind farm generating facility.
- Performs regular inspections of electrical transformers, substation, and related equipment.
- Participates during overhauls of all related plant equipment.
- Performs routine tests.
- Performs routine predictive maintenance activities including, thermography, vibration analysis, oil and cooling water sampling.
- Operates and/or obtains information from various mechanical and electrical devices used to support specific equipment diagnostics or work activities; gathers, interprets and logs data.
- Operates mobile and heavy equipment to perform maintenance tasks.
- Performs various welding activities.
- Assures employee compliance with safety rules, operating practices, construction standards, and accounting procedures.
- Instructs the employees in safe work methods.
- Performs other duties which are similar, related, or incidental to this position.
Education Requirements- High school diploma or GED
Required Experience- 2 years wind turbine technical college or 3 years of wind turbine maintenance and operation experience
- 2 years of electronic study beyond high school or 2 years of experience in electronics work
- Experience in mechanical/electrical construction and maintenance
Preferred ExperienceOther Requirements- Must possess a valid driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Broad working knowledge of general mechanics, machine shop operations, general structural and mechanical repair methods and practices
