OverviewIn this role, you will provide independent assurance over the quality of the bank's credit risk management practices and its largest lending portfolios. You will gain deep exposure to a diverse range of businesses, including project finance, energy sector finance, asset-based lending, and portfolios across Latin America and Canada.
You will lead and execute credit review examinations, assess credit risk management effectiveness, evaluate borrower risk ratings, and provide valuable insights to senior stakeholders. The role requires a strong understanding of corporate credit risk, regulatory expectations, and risk governance frameworks.
You will collaborate with business leaders, credit executives, and audit partners to identify emerging risks, improve credit risk management processes, and ensure adherence to regulatory and internal standards. You will also leverage data analytics and emerging technologies to improve examination efficiency and strengthen continuous monitoring activities.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead Credit Review Examinations- Execute and deliver risk-based credit review engagements across Global Commercial Banking, Global Corporate & Investment Banking, Global Markets, Japanese Corporate & Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Securitized Products, and Transaction Banking.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of credit risk management practices, borrower risk ratings, and portfolio monitoring activities.
- Assess compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and established credit standards.
- Develop examination scopes, objectives, testing procedures, and work plans.
Credit Review Planning & Delivery- Maintain the credit review risk universe and support ongoing risk assessment activities.
- Deliver examination engagements with appropriate coverage based on identified risks.
- Produce executive-level examination reports with clear conclusions and actionable recommendations.
- Present findings and key risk themes to senior management and stakeholders.
Credit Review Leadership- Act as Examiner-in-Charge (EIC) and lead examination teams when required.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to team members.
- Ensure examinations are completed on time and within established quality and performance metrics.
- Maintain adherence to credit review methodologies and documentation standards.
- Escalate findings and monitor remediation plans through resolution.
Stakeholder Management- Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior business leaders and credit executives.
- Provide independent challenge and guidance regarding credit risk management practices.
- Share industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory developments with stakeholders.
- Lead discussions and regular meetings with management teams throughout the examination lifecycle.
- Influence enhancements to credit risk frameworks, controls, and governance processes.
Continuous Monitoring & Risk Assessment- Identify emerging risks through portfolio monitoring and ongoing risk assessments.
- Utilize data analytics and technology solutions to improve examination effectiveness and efficiency.
- Ensure data quality and integrity throughout examination activities.
- Support enhancements to monitoring processes and risk identification strategies.
Collaboration & Reporting- Partner with business units to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to reporting, KPI tracking, methodology updates, and program documentation.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors as needed.
- Prepare presentations, risk summaries, and ad hoc management reporting for senior leadership.
Qualifications- 5+ years of experience in first-line, second-line, or third-line corporate credit risk management.
- Experience within the financial services industry and/or regulatory environment.
- Experience leading credit review, audit, examination, or risk assessment engagements.
- Strong understanding of corporate credit risk management and lending practices.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and testing control effectiveness.
- Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including executive report writing.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and communicate effectively across multiple levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Preferred Skills- Experience with data analytics, AI tools, and technology-driven process improvements.
- Continuous monitoring experience within risk management, audit, or credit review functions.
- Knowledge of project finance, energy finance, asset-based lending, and commercial banking portfolios.
- Understanding of credit governance frameworks and regulatory expectations.
- Ability to leverage emerging technologies to improve examination quality and efficiency.
- Strong leadership presence and ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.

- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in complex and evolving business environments.
Education- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Preferred degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Advanced degree preferred.
The typical base pay range for this role is between $127,000-$177,000 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonuses and/or incentive compensation.
