Job Title: Credit AnalystJob DescriptionThe Credit Analyst evaluates and manages commercial and agricultural credit risk to support a high-quality loan portfolio. This role performs comprehensive financial and cash flow analysis, identifies emerging trends affecting borrowers and industries, and delivers independent assessments of creditworthiness. The Credit Analyst exercises sound judgment, collaborates closely with lending teams, and contributes to effective credit structures, risk ratings, and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
Responsibilities- Analyze and spread commercial and agricultural financial statements for prospective and existing borrowers, and provide clear recommendations regarding credit viability.
- Prepare detailed written credit analyses for new loan requests, renewals, modifications, and annual credit reviews.
- Evaluate industry, business, and management factors to identify trends and assess potential credit risks, with particular emphasis on agricultural lending.
- Monitor borrower performance and financial condition to identify early warning signs of credit deterioration and recommend appropriate actions.
- Maintain and support loan risk rating methodologies to ensure accurate and consistent assessment of portfolio risk.
- Collaborate with commercial and agricultural lending teams to structure credit facilities, including recommendations on terms, repayment options, collateral requirements, and pricing considerations.
- Attend client meetings alongside commercial and agricultural lenders as needed to gather information and provide credit insights.
- Participate in loan committee discussions and provide independent credit opinions to support sound credit decisions.
- Ensure compliance with internal lending policies, procedures, and credit administration standards.
- Support credit quality initiatives, regulatory examinations, audits, and management reporting activities by providing accurate analysis and documentation.
- Review and provide guidance on loan documentation and credit administration processes to enhance quality and consistency.
- Assist with exposure reviews and approval processes for specialized credit-related requests.
- Mentor and support team members in credit analysis, underwriting, and loan administration best practices.
- Assist in training and development efforts for credit and lending staff to strengthen overall credit risk management capabilities.
Essential Skills- Proven experience in commercial and/or agricultural credit analysis, underwriting, or lending.
- Strong financial statement analysis and cash flow analysis skills.
- Ability to evaluate credit risk, exercise sound judgment, and make independent credit recommendations.
- Excellent written communication and report-writing abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with financial analysis software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively with lending teams and participate effectively in loan committees.
- Customer service orientation with the ability to build constructive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in credit analysis, credit risk assessment, and credit management in a commercial or agricultural context.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Agricultural Economics, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of agricultural lending principles and industry trends preferred.
- Experience supporting credit quality initiatives, regulatory examinations, audits, and management reporting.
- Experience reviewing loan documentation and credit administration processes.
- Experience mentoring and training credit or lending staff.
- Comfort participating in client meetings to gather information and discuss credit structures.
