Position OverviewThe Software Cost Engineer is a dedicated and highly engaged professional responsible for analyzing, implementing, validating, and optimizing healthcare cost-processing solutions within the Cost Engine platform. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in C#, Rust, SQL, and JSON, along with experience working with EDI transactions and a strong understanding of the healthcare and benefits industry. The position combines technical analysis, software delivery, healthcare pricing expertise, and client engagement to drive high-quality outcomes through a strong commitment to excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do:- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade software applications and services using C#, Rust, and related technologies.
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database solutions to support high-volume transaction processing.
- Design and implement APIs, data integrations, and services utilizing JSON and modern integration patterns.
- Analyze, develop, and support EDI transaction processing, including troubleshooting and enhancement of inbound and outbound data exchanges.
- Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to long-term technical strategy and platform modernization efforts.
- Ensure application performance, scalability, security, and reliability through best engineering practices.
- Conduct code reviews and provide technical mentorship to software engineers and developers.
- Support production environments by investigating issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions that improve system stability, reliability, and performance.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and operational procedures.
- Work closely with healthcare and benefits subject matter experts to ensure solutions align with industry standards and business requirements.

- Requires proficiency using AI tools skillfully with an understanding of how to develop/create intelligent prompts and/or agents.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Rust.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with big data frameworks (Hadoop, Spark) and streaming technologies (Kafka).
- Familiarity with cloud-based data solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and distributed systems.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Deliver robust and scalable data solutions with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex data workflows.
- Exhibit strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams.

Base Salary Range$95,000.00 - $120,650.00
