Corning Incorporated is seeking a
Corporate Librarian, Scientific and Technical Information to join our Research, Development, and Engineering Knowledge and Information Services team in Corning, NY. Relocation assistance is available.
Corning's 5,000-person technology community depends on timely access to the world's scientific literature - and this role oversees that function. You will manage Corning's portfolio of scientific and technical information subscriptions, licenses, tools, and physical archives, while helping shape how the company approaches AI-enabled research access at a moment when publishers and discovery technologies are rapidly evolving.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and optimize the scientific and technical information resource portfolio - including journals, databases, e-books, patent tools, and specialized content - ensuring access, advising on permitted uses, and managing associated costs.
- Administer the full subscription lifecycle: evaluation, acquisition, licensing, renewals, cancellations, access management, and usage analytics.
- Partner with Legal, Procurement, IT, and vendors to identify requirements, support licensing compliance, and inform contract and negotiation strategy.
- Train and enable technical users through documentation, guidance, and outreach; serve as the go-to expert on available information tools as they evolve.
- Evaluate AI-enabled research tools and emerging technologies; provide recommendations on responsible adoption and licensing implications.
- Manage the physical research library collection, rare and out-of-print publications, and lab notebook archive.
Required Qualifications- MLIS, MLS, or advanced degree in library/information science, information management, or a relevant STEM field
- 4+ years of experience in a corporate library, special library, scientific information center, technical information services, or electronic resource management role
- Experience managing licensed scientific or technical information resources in a non-academic or corporate setting
- Familiarity with scientific publishing models, patent information resources, and document delivery services
- Familiarity with Generative AI and LLM applications for search, summarization, or content enrichment
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and standard business tools
Desired Qualifications- Experience administering subscriptions, renewals, and license terms for journals, databases, patents, or specialized technical content
- Experience supporting R&D, engineering, manufacturing, regulatory, or technical operations teams
- Experience with Electronic Resource Management (ERM) tools, link resolvers, discovery services, authentication systems, or usage analytics
- Understanding of licensing considerations related to internal sharing, reuse, text/data mining, and AI-enabled use of scientific content
- Experience designing training, documentation, and outreach programs for technical user populations
This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $81,999.00 - $112,749.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
