Position Overview

The Corporate Communications Manager will be a member of Autodesk's Corporate Communications team, reporting to the Director of Corporate Communications and Analyst Relations. This role develops and executes communications that advance Autodesk's corporate reputation across external and internal channels, with a focus on earned media, high-profile announcements, executive communications, and the stories that show how our customers design and make the world around us.

This is a role for a versatile, execution-strong communicator. You will lead announcements, build relationships with the reporters and new-media voices shaping how Autodesk is perceived, and develop communications strategies that help leaders across the company show up credibly in the moments that matter. A key focus area within the role is Autodesk for Small Business, our multi-year program to earn trust with the small businesses, entrepreneurs, and creators who make up a growing number of the Design and Make industries. Beyond that focus area, you will be deployed across the corporate communications portfolio wherever the need is greatest, from flagship company moments to emerging opportunities.

The right person is equally comfortable pitching a business reporter, drafting an executive's talking points, building an announcement plan from a blank page, and spotting the cultural moment everyone else missed. You understand that reputation today is shaped as much by creators, communities, and AI-generated answers as by traditional press, and you know how to work across it.

Responsibilities
  • Announcements: Lead and support end-to-end execution of announcements, owning the communications plan, drafting all materials, managing stakeholder review, and driving each moment from brief to publish. Support announcement roadmaps and editorial calendars, and proactively flag gaps, conflicts, and opportunities to sequence news for maximum impact
  • Media relations & new media: Shape and execute earned media strategies across traditional and non-traditional channels. Build relationships with business, technology, and trade reporters alongside Substack writers, creator journalists, podcasters, and the community voices our customer's trust. Develop proactive story angles tied to news cycles, data, and trends, and understand how discovery is shifting toward social platforms and AI-generated answers
  • Autodesk for Small Business: Serve as a core communications team member for Autodesk's small business program, a company initiative with senior leadership visibility. Support the announcement drumbeat, executive thought leadership, customer storytelling pipeline, and Autodesk News content cadence for this audience; partner with product and business teams to translate developments into narratives that resonate with small business owners; and support internal activation that builds employee understanding of these customers
  • Executive communications: Develop communications strategies that help leaders across Autodesk show up effectively, including messaging frameworks, talking points, briefing materials, presentation narratives, and thought leadership content for media, events, podcasts, videos and social channels
  • Storytelling & content: Write and edit across formats and audiences: press materials, Autodesk News stories, customer spotlights, and internal communications. Translate complex product and business initiatives into clear, human, audience-specific narratives, and develop repeatable formats that compound in value over time
  • Social & cultural fluency: Bring a working understanding of how social platforms, creators, influencers, and online communities shape brand perception. Partner with social, community, and brand teams to extend stories into the channels where audiences live and identify cultural moments where Autodesk has a credible point of view
  • Measurement & operations: Track the impact of communications programs and deliver reporting that synthesizes what is working and what needs to change. Contribute to team operations and manage agency and vendor partners as needed

Minimum Qualifications
  • 4-10 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications and/or media relations at a global company, organization, or agency. We are looking for the right candidate and are open to candidates who can grow into the role
  • Proficiency with key AI tools for communicators and an AI-native way of working that treats these tools as core to the craft - with the discernment to understand when not to use them
  • Hands-on media relations experience is essential: building press relationships, pitching and landing stories, and managing announcements from planning through coverage
  • Exceptional writing skills across formats, from press materials and long-form stories to executive messaging and internal communications, with the editorial judgment to match voice and tone to audience
  • Demonstrated fluency in new and non-traditional media, including creator journalism, newsletters, podcasts, social platforms, and online communities, and a point of view on how these channels are changing communications
  • Experience developing executive communications, including messaging, talking points, and thought leadership content
  • Track record of leading announcements or communications programs end to end, managing multiple stakeholders and delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines
  • A generalist mindset: comfortable moving between external and internal work, strategy and execution, and shifting priorities with agility, discretion, and speed in a complex, matrixed organization
  • Curiosity about small businesses, entrepreneurs, and the creator economy, and genuine interest in telling their stories
  • Ability to travel ~10% of the time, as needed

The Ideal Candidate
  • You're an exceptional writer and sharp communications generalist who can take on diverse kinds of work: lead an announcement, manage a media moment, or turn a complex initiative into a story people want to read
  • The ideal candidate combines strong earned media instincts with fluency in social, creator, and community channels, and brings the judgment, speed, and craft to operate independently in a complex, matrixed organization
  • This role supports Autodesk for Small Business
  • The right candidate brings flexibility and a growth mindset: they adapt quickly when priorities shift, treat new problems as interesting, and take pride in helping build something from the ground up
