CORPORATE APQP SENIOR QUALITY ENGINEER
SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN - LEAR WORLD HEADQUARTERS


As a member of the Quality team, the Corporate APQP Senior Quality Engineer will be responsible for program interface between the Customer and Lear on pre-production activities, including managing Customer APQP Launch activities to assure timely completion. The APQP SQE will be responsible to understand customer requirements, provide Program Launch support cross-functionally, interface with Engineering to verify compliance to LPMP milestones, and ensure plant APQP/Quality is working to achieve milestones.

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:
  • Participates in all product development and launch activities (including program management system-specific actions) which includes the identification of customer expectations, manufacturing, and ongoing production test support.
  • Support launching facilities as required in all aspects of Plant and Program readiness before/during pre-production build events.
  • Serves as interface for the Quality organization between Engineering, Program, and Plant teams.
  • Monitor Profile/LPMP management and drive/enforce adherence to LPMP deliverable standards.
  • Lead Appearance Manual development, craftsmanship audits and communicate any supplier quality issue through pre-production build events. Ensure design/manufacturing issues are properly documented, communicated at manufacturing feasible levels, and read across to all applicable facilities.
  • Support and/or interface with Lear internal quality teams supporting the business unit customers in different regions globally.
  • Document, Monitor and Verify the effective implementation and Read Across of Launch, Quality, Warranty, and Customer Lessons Learned across all applicable facilities.
  • Perform Post-Launch Lessons Learned Analysis and lead, verify effective read across of those items across all future launches.
  • Develop, Manage and Execute a Roadmap to Customer Satisfaction across all applicable facilities.
  • Help train and develop plant QE/APQP engineers in customer APQP requirements, this will include the managing of PPAP and IMDS timing and escalation where required


Your Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or comparable field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum four (4) years working within an application environment. Plant Quality, AIAG, APQP, PPAP Launch experience, or etc.
  • Competent in quality tools, and process/production control methods such as:
    • Expert in Customer APQP Process
    • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability.
    • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment.
    • Competent in quality tools, and process/production control methods such as:
      • Control Plans
      • FMEA
      • PPAP
      • Problem-Solving and analytical skills using 8D methodology
  • Understanding Quality Systems, internal and external
  • Proactiveness and risk analysis throughout the launch
  • Good time management and detailed tracking of quality deliverables
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, and programs in an organized manner
  • Robust Problem-solving skills
  • Able to travel up to 20% of the time as needed

  • JIT/Seating Experience
  • Prior experience launching a new program
  • Certifications in APQP or PPAP
