Full Job Description
The Role

At Koto, writing isn't a finishing touch - it's foundational. Words help shape our thinking, sharpen our strategy, and unlock the kinds of ideas brands are built on. If you believe that exceptional writing can shift perspectives, create emotion, and drive brands forward, you'll feel right at home here.
Your Responsibilities
  1. Adapt with intention. You flex your style, voice, and ideas to fit different clients, categories, and creative challenges - from brand platforms to naming to campaign copy.
  2. Move work forward. You turn feedback into clear next steps, help maintain momentum across projects, and bring clarity to the team through thoughtful writing.
  3. Communicate with confidence. You present your work internally and to clients, write clean and accurate copy, and shape how it lives within decks, strategy documents, and creative presentations.
  4. Collaborate and contribute. You work independently but know when to pull in your team. You keep partners updated, invite conversation around tone of voice, and enjoy the push-and-pull that makes great work better.
  5. Bring curiosity to branding. You care about the world of brands - the iconic ones shaping today and the founders building tomorrow - and you want to help craft work that stands out on a global stage.
  6. Own your growth. You take responsibility for your role, welcome feedback, and act on it to develop your craft and progress at Koto.
  7. Stay organized and present. You manage your schedule, show up prepared for meetings, and maintain communication across your projects.
  8. Use modern tools. You're comfortable working in Figma/FigJam, Pitch, and Notion.
  9. Be part of the studio. You're excited to work in person at our New York studio, contribute to our culture, and travel for client work and global Koto collaboration when needed.
Our Responsibilities
  1. We will ensure you have meaningful and regular access to your manager to support your personal development and career trajectory.
  2. We will actively reward performance with promotions, pay increases, and a discretionary annual bonus of up to 10% of salary to all employees.
  3. We ensure Koto is an equal environment for all its employees.
  4. We will support you in taking family leave and offer significant paid maternity and paternity.
  5. We will actively encourage you to take 25 days of vacation annually, in addition to US bank holidays (on average seven), and a studio closure over the December Holidays.
  6. We will contribute an additional up to 4% to anyone wanting to contribute to our 401 (k) plan.
  7. We offer a monthly 'employee wellness' benefits package via Juno, valued at $100 per month.
  8. We offer access to YCN and fund relevant training opportunities to any employee looking to develop themselves and their career.
  9. We reward five years of service with $5,000 and five days of vacation. We reward ten years of service with $10,000 and four weeks' vacation.
  10. We will provide you with the opportunity to work from any of our five Koto studios globally for a set time period, subject to appropriate planning and application.
