Coordinator Nurse Practitioner - NP - Cardiothoracic Surgery

Join an STS 3-Star rated cardiothoracic surgery program at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. The Lead Nurse Practitioner is a unique opportunity for an experienced NP to combine clinical practice with leadership, helping to advance quality, operations, and professional development within a growing cardiac surgery program.

Working closely with physician and administrative leadership, the Lead NP will oversee the Cardiothoracic Surgery NP team while supporting patient care across the CTICU and Stepdown units. This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who is passionate about mentoring others, driving clinical excellence, and helping shape the future of the program.

This position combines clinical and leadership responsibilities within the Cardiothoracic Surgery service. Clinical assignments will primarily support day shift operations, with some evening, night, weekend, and holiday coverage based on departmental needs.

Preferred Criteria
  • Prior leadership, charge, or supervisory experience
  • Experience mentoring, onboarding, or precepting Nurse Practitioners
  • Experience in quality improvement, program development, or educational initiatives
  • Didactic or teaching experience


Required Criteria
  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • New York State Registered Nurse License and Adult, Acute Care or Family Nurse Practitioner License
  • Board Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Minimum three years of NP experience in a Cardiothoracic ICU, Cardiac Surgery, Critical Care, or related specialty

Salary Range:

$164,000-$208,000/Annual
