More about our teamOur Behavioral Health team operates within a 150-bed inpatient facility focused on healing, safety, and innovation. The Infection Control Coordinator works collaboratively with nursing, clinical, medical, and administrative leadership to support a safe environment and maintain compliance with infection prevention and control standards. This position is instrumental in monitoring healthcare-associated infections, analyzing infection-related data, implementing evidence-based practices, and supporting staff education and regulatory compliance.
How you’ll contributeThe Infection Control Coordinator who excels in this role will:
- Coordinate the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the organization's infection prevention and control program.
- Develop and evaluate infection prevention and control strategies, policies, procedures, and plans.
- Collect, analyze, interpret, and disseminate healthcare-associated infection data.
- Conduct infection surveillance and assist with identifying surveillance priorities and outcomes.
- Perform risk assessments and use data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements.
- Monitor local, state, and federal regulations related to infection prevention and control.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accrediting and regulatory agencies and their standards and requirements.
- Integrate evidence-based infection prevention practices into hospital operations and clinical protocols.
- Assist with the development and delivery of infection prevention and control education for employees.
- Monitor current research and developments in infection prevention and control to identify and implement best practices.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote patient and employee safety.
- Support infection prevention initiatives related to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, environmental safety, and healthcare-associated infections.
- Provide guidance and consultation to staff regarding infection prevention and control practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives designed to reduce infection risk and improve patient outcomes.
- Maintain appropriate documentation, reports, and records related to the infection prevention and control program.
What we’re looking forApplicants should meet the following education, licensure, and experience requirements:
Minimum Education
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; or
- Associate of Science Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or Medical Laboratory Technician.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; or
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or Medical Laboratory Technician.
Licensure/Certification
Applicants must hold one of the following:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license; or
- MLT/MT (ASCP); or
- MLT/MT (AMT); or
- MLT/MT (HEW); or
- CLT (NCA).
Additional qualifications include:
- Strong critical-thinking and analytical skills.
- Ability to exercise decisive judgment and work with minimal supervision.
- Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control principles and practices.
- Ability to interpret infection-related data and identify trends.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a stressful, fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and evidence-based practice.
- Healthcare or behavioral health experience preferred.
- Previous infection prevention and control experience preferred.
