Coordinator, Indigenous Economies

Location: Logan Lake, BC, Canada

Role Overview

We are seeking an engaging, collaborative, and values-driven professional to join our Community and Indigenous Relations team. Reporting to the Supervisor, Indigenous Economies, the Coordinator, Indigenous Economies will play a key role in advancing commitments to Indigenous Governments and Organizations by supporting Indigenous employment, retention, and economic participation at Highland Valley Copper.

This role blends relationship-building with strong analytical capability. The successful candidate will work across teams and with external partners to track, analyze, and communicate workforce, procurement, and economic participation data to support informed decision-making and demonstrate impact

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader by adhering to and promoting environmental, health, and safety standards and procedures.
  • Coordinate and support the implementation and tracking of agreements with Indigenous Governments and Organizations related to employment, training, contracting, procurement, and business development commitments.
  • Contribute to initiatives that enhance Indigenous workforce participation, capacity-building, retention, supplier development, and long-term economic opportunities.
  • Build and maintain respectful, trust-based relationships with Indigenous partners, community organizations, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support and participate in engagement activities including site tours, open houses, career fairs, workshops, and community events (including occasional evenings and weekends).
  • Maintain accurate records and manage reporting systems, databases, and tools used to track employment, training, contracting, and procurement outcomes.
  • Collect, analyze, and present data through reports, dashboards, and presentations to support leadership decisions and demonstrate performance against commitments.


Qualifications

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Business, Human Resources, Indigenous Studies, Community Development, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in Indigenous relations, workforce or economic development, HR, community relations, or project coordination; experience in mining or natural resources is an asset.
  • Candidates without formal education will only be considered where they demonstrate extensive (8-10+ years), directly relevant experience with clear evidence of progressive responsibility and measurable impact.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion when handling highly sensitive information, including community, employment, and procurement data; strict adherence to confidentiality expectations is essential
  • Strong analytical capability with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required, including the ability to interpret data and translate it into clear insights and meaningful presentations (Power BI or similar tools are an asset).
  • Proven ability to build and maintain respectful, trust-based relationships and effectively navigate complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating initiatives or programs, managing competing priorities, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical, operational, and data-driven information into clear and simple messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and understanding of Indigenous histories, values, and protocols, gained through direct experience working with Indigenous communities or partners.


Pay Range: CAD $76,000 - $94,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Working Conditions:
  • Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
  • Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
