This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.

This role is part of Blue Origin's Engines - Advanced Engines business unit, focused on the design, development, testing, and operation of advanced systems that power the next generation of Blue Origin programs. As a Controls Integration Engineer, you will take control algorithms and control laws from analysis into hardware-integrating, tuning, and validating them on avionics and test stands to ensure safe, predictable system behavior.   • Travel: Up to 50% to support hardware integration, HIL bring-up, and test campaigns across sites.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Integrate, deploy, and tune control algorithms and control laws onto controller electronics and avionics hardware
  • Design, build, and operate Integrated Hardware-in-the-Loop (IHIL) test environments
  • Bring up and troubleshoot real-time control surfaces, valves, actuators, and instrumentation
  • Integrate driver-level PLC and packaged control interfaces (Modbus, etc.) with system hardware
  • Lead test stations: gather requirements, design test cards, coordinate stakeholders, and generate test logs
  • Resolve anomalies across the controls/avionics/software boundary during development and integrated testing
  • Correlate observed hardware behavior against model predictions and feed results back to the controls team
  • Capture and share cross-program lessons learned to improve control system integration
  • (Level III) Lead major aspects of IHIL design and integration efforts and mentor junior engineers


Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Controls Engineering, or a related STEM field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience designing, building, commissioning, and/or operating complex aerospace or controls test equipment
  • Experience with data and control systems setup, operation, and data processing (sensor selection, calibration, grounding/shielding)
  • Ability to support off shifts as needed
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with MathWorks and adjacent products (MATLAB, Simulink, Speedgoat)
  • Experience with PLCs and industrial protocols (Modbus, etc.) and real-time control implementation
  • Experience with valves, actuators, fluid systems, and instrumentation
  • Experience reading P&IDs, schematics, and specifications
  • Capable of leading test teams as a Test Conductor or Test Engineer

Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $130,706.00 - $182,987.70
