DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct and oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, revenue recognition, payroll accounting, AP/AR, and month-end close processes
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
- Design, implement, and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to support audit readiness and organizational growth
- Partner closely with the VP of Finance and executive leadership to provide financial insights, risk identification, and decision support
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration
- Oversee utility program revenue accounting, contract review, and cost allocation practices common to energy efficiency program administrators
- Support development and monitoring of budgets, rolling forecasts and program-level financial performance
- Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements
- Support system enhancements and process automation initiatives to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; master's degree preferred
- CPA highly desired
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in mid-sized or growing organizations
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting standards
- Experience in utility program accounting, energy efficiency, consulting, or government-funded programs preferred
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage deadlines, and communicate complex financial topics clearly
- Advanced proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience supporting or leading system implementations, automation, or process transformation initiatives
