TRIUMF, Canada’s premier particle accelerator center, is at the forefront of research in particle and nuclear physics, materials science, and nuclear medicine. The Controls Group plays a critical role in this mission by designing, installing, and maintaining the electrical and computer infrastructure that powers accelerator control systems across the facility.
As an Electrical or Electronics Engineer, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and support advanced control systems that enable the remote operation of custom instrumentation used in cutting-edge experiments. Your responsibilities will include designing, testing, and maintaining control system hardware and software components, troubleshooting complex issues, and contributing to system upgrades and optimizations. This role provides a unique opportunity to apply engineering expertise in a high-tech research environment, solving real-world challenges in automation, instrumentation, and distributed control systems.
Do you think you have these?Engineering foundation: Bachelor’s in Electrical, Computer,Engineering or Engineering Physics with experience in complex control system environments
Controls & automation: Experience with instrumentation, motion control, data acquisition, and distributed control systems
Programming & EPICS: Familiar with C/C++, Python, Java, scripting, and exposure to EPICS or similar frameworks
Hands-on troubleshooting: Uses test & measurement tools, works with precision devices, and supports system diagnostics and reliability
Collaborative mindset: Works effectively with engineers and scientists in fast-paced, multidisciplinary technical environments

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with the position. Expected to provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and technical employees within their job area.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Annual salary would be $94,776.00 CAD plus our comprehensive benefits package.
