Opportunity

JBT Marel is looking for a Controls Engineer in Apex, NC. You will be responsible for the engineering of electrical control systems which include primary functions and safety related control systems for new machines produced by Tipper Tie. This includes designing electrical, electronic and pneumatic systems according to the appropriate domestic and international industry standards as well as internal ISO requirements. The tasks are versatile and comprise all the phases of electrical engineering, from written documentation, design calculations, design verification / validation, BOM creation, and controls research.

Responsibilities

Main Tasks
  • You will work with the industries/product groups to create requirements for electrical control systems
  • Responsible for technical design specification as well as the development of programs to run on required control components which include PLC's, HMI's, safety controllers, and drives systems.
  • Design electrical control systems containing PLC, HMI, Safety controllers and Drive systems
  • Perform testing and verification of proper machine operation based on machine specifications.
  • Perform required design calculations
  • Participate in installing, operating and testing equipment in-house
  • Support the operational organization with panel manufacturing
  • Responsible for maintenance and version control of existing documentation, programs and schematics
  • Support Sales and Tech Services for newly released products and/or unexpected machine performance.

Qualifications
  • University degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics
  • Experience with engineering of electrical control systems, preferably in the food industry
  • Strong English skills, both written and verbal
  • 3-5 years' experience programming PLC's and HMI interfaces
  • Proficiency with Rockwell, Siemens, and Lenze controls is preferred
  • Experience with preparation of electrical documentation and associated drawing tools. E-plan experience, preferable
  • Proficient with MS Windows based operating systems and MS Office applications
  • Experience in and comfort working in multi-cultural, multi-discipline organization is an advantage
  • Familiar with NFPA, UL, CE, and ISO standards.
  • Familiar with the setup and use of network communication using Ethernet protocols and other fieldbus protocols like EtherNet/IP and Profinet.
  • Experience in the design and use of pneumatic circuits and control valves is preferred.


You must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.

Travel & Location:

You will be on site at our Apex, NC facility. The position will require a maximum of 20-50% travel (Domestic and International) Why work at JBT Marel. A single period of travel could be as much as a month but normally no more than 2 weeks per trip. Must be able to obtain a Passport and rent a vehicle.
