Continuous Improvement Manager

Purpose of the Role

The Continuous Improvement Manager drives operational excellence at the Rhome, TX site by embedding practical, sustainable improvement initiatives into daily operations. This role focuses on improving safety, throughput, quality, and cost performance across production, cylinder management, reclamation, and laboratory processes. The position works closely with site leadership and frontline teams to ensure continuous improvement is fully integrated into how the plant operates.

Key Responsibilities

Site Continuous Improvement Execution
  • Translate site and business priorities into actionable, floor-level improvement initiatives.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts across production, filling, cylinder processing, reclamation, and lab operations.
  • Ensure all initiatives align with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Operational Efficiency & Throughput
  • Identify and eliminate bottlenecks to improve output vs. plan.
  • Drive improvements in cylinder turnaround time, labor productivity, and yield.
  • Optimize material flow, scheduling, and asset utilization.

Safety & Compliance
  • Embed a safety-first mindset into all improvement activities.
  • Support incident investigations and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Ensure adherence to MOC and all applicable regulatory requirements.

Standardization & Daily Management
  • Implement and sustain standard work across all operations.
  • Drive daily management systems (KPIs, tier boards, Gemba walks).
  • Ensure consistency and accountability across shifts.

Problem Solving & Project Delivery
  • Lead root cause analysis for safety, quality, and operational issues.
  • Execute Kaizen and improvement projects with measurable results.
  • Ensure improvements are data-driven and sustained.

Cost Reduction & Asset Optimization
  • Deliver cost savings through improved cylinder lifecycle management, reduced waste, and process efficiency.
  • Support capital improvements tied to safety and productivity.

Capability & Culture
  • Coach and develop teams in Lean, Six Sigma, and CI tools.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, discipline, and continuous improvement.

Collaboration & Communication
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain to align priorities.
  • Track and report performance, progress, and results to site leadership.

Skills and Competencies
  • Experience in continuous improvement within a manufacturing or chemical plant environment
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; candidates with 5+ years of manufacturing process improvement experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence tools
  • Proven ability to deliver measurable improvements in safety, productivity, and cost
  • Data-driven problem solver with strong analytical skills
  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence frontline teams and leadership
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, operations-driven environment
  • Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and disciplined execution
