The Engineering News Automation Content group takes the wealth of Bloomberg data and turns it into human-readable stories. With more than 100,000 automated stories generated every month, we are the largest producer of automated news stories in the world. We work closely with journalists and product owners to produce the high-quality content that our unique 200,000 readers are expecting.

What's in it for you

You'll join and contribute to a crucial area of Bloomberg News. The automations you build will generate real-time stories on the Bloomberg News Wires accessible to all of our clients. You will work with a team of experienced journalists who are highly regarded within the financial market and technologists who are at the top of their game. You will gain exposure to the full spectrum of our financial, economic, and environmental data, and help craft standards for a new way of breaking news.

In addition, as someone joining our team, your mission will be to participate in the continued definition of our new platform, Content Creation Workflow, as well as a new product that enables editors to securely incorporate GenAI into their daily workflow.

We'll trust you to

  • Write scripts and configure triggers that generate automated stories
  • Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to deliver news effectively
  • Follow and continuously improve our team's design, coding and testing standards
  • Enrich and maintain a set of libraries to be used by our teams and others in Engineering
  • Explore new technologies and methodologies, finding the best tools for the job rather than those with which we are most comfortable
  • Partner with our sister teams, Content Creation Workflow and News Automation Infrastructure, to come up with the next generation of automated news

You will need to have

  • 4+ years of software development
  • BA, BS, MS, PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or related technology field
  • An aptitude for analytical problem solving
  • Appreciation of the quality of the codebase and experience in knowledge how to apply unit testing, integration testing and stress testing to produce reliable production software
  • Working knowledge of modern development methodologies and tools (Jenkins / Jira / GitHub / Humio)

We would love to see

  • Interest to working with news with a focus on internal customers
  • Experience in journalism or working with LLMs is a plus
  • Experience in working with data pipeline systems or microservices platforms
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, or system observability
  • Experience in mentoring others


Salary Range = 90000 - 160000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
