Full Job Description
The Opportunity

The Consultant, Business Insights is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving reporting, dashboards, and business performance analysis for the Business Insights team. Based in Toronto, the candidate will support recurring reporting processes, data validation, dashboard enhancements, documentation, and technical analysis that enable accurate internal decision-making. This role is best suited to someone with strong analytical skills, technical reporting experience, and a focus on building scalable, reliable reporting solutions while leveraging Power BI and Microsoft Co-Pilot.

You thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy building reporting solutions that help teams make informed decisions.

Duties

In addition to following McDonald's policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Business Updates
  • Prepare recurring reporting outputs and business updates that summarize key performance trends accurately and consistently.
  • Consolidate data inputs, validate results, investigate variances, and maintain reporting processes across monthly, daily, and ad hoc deliverables.
  • Monitor business trends and translate performance changes into clear internal insights and reporting outputs and presentation to senior leadership team as needed.

Technical Reporting and Dashboard Support
  • Support regional and national reporting through data pulls, tracking files, competitive outlet reporting, product mix reporting, incentive reporting, and ad hoc analysis.
  • Design, test, enhance, and document dashboards and reporting solutions, including data models, measures, refreshes, and reporting views.
  • Utilize Power Query and Power BI to optimize data formatting and visualize reporting.

Reporting
  • Produce, maintain, and distribute recurring dashboards and reports for internal business users.
  • Clarify reporting requirements with internal partners and ensure solutions are accurate, relevant, and fit for purpose.
  • Improve reporting accuracy, automation, efficiency, and scalability by resolving data discrepancies, dashboard issues, refresh failures, and reporting gaps.
  • Leverage Co-pilot to summarize findings and automate communication routines.


Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:
  • Work experience: Five to seven years' experience in data analysis, reporting, business intelligence, or a related analytics function.
  • Education: An undergraduate degree with a data, analytics or business focus.
  • Experience building, maintaining, validating, and enhancing dashboards and reports for internal business users.
  • Experienced and capable of working in a fast-paced, agile, and sometimes high-pressure environment while managing recurring timelines and multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical thinking, technical problem-solving, communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI, SQL, and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency and experience in leveraging AI
  • Experience with data modelling, visualization design, refresh management, and automation; Tableau, Alteryx, Python, or R is an asset.
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with sound data validation practices and the ability to support weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reporting.


Salary Range

The expected salary range for this role is $77,000 - $102,000 per year
