Job DescriptionPosition OverviewIn this role, you will serve as a Senior Facilities Project Manager responsible for the end-to-end execution and oversight of government facilities renovation, upgrade, or repair projects, from initial planning through final close-out. The successful completion of these projects requires a solid background in managing the full lifecycle of public works or federal facility construction.
Required Education & Experience- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
- Years of Experience: A minimum of 8 to 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in facilities planning, construction management, or capital project oversight, with distinct experience supporting federal or defense government programs.
- Certifications (Preferred): Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly desirable.
Core Responsibilities- Project Initiation Phase: The primary technical authority in this role is responsible for developing requirements, creating comprehensive Scopes of Work (SOW), and calculating accurate Independent Government Estimates (IGE) to define project requirements, establish baselines, and facilitate the acquisition process.
- Desired Background: Direct experience in federal procurement workflows is highly valuable, specifically a proven background in technical writing for SOWs and a strong grasp of construction cost-estimation methodologies required to generate accurate IGEs.
- Post-Contract Award Support: Following contract award, the responsibilities of this role include supporting the Gov't COR (Contracting Officer's Representative) with all project management activities by monitoring construction contractor performance, monitoring schedule adherence, and ensuring strict quality control.
- Desired Background: A background in government contract administration and construction management is ideal, particularly regarding tracking critical path schedules, evaluating contractor deliverables, and acting as a trusted technical advisor.
- Execution & Compliance: In this role, you will organize and participate in site inspections, review technical submittals, process Requests for Information (RFIs), and provide input on milestones, ensuring that all construction phases fully comply with federal regulations, safety standards, and approved contract documents.
- Desired Background: This function requires a rigorous field-engineering or quality-assurance background, with hands-on experience handling standard construction administrative tasks (such as RFIs and submittals) and enforcing federal safety codes on active jobsites.
