What You Will Do

Our Senior Construction Project Managers are instrumental in driving the success of our Building Solutions North America business at Johnson Controls. This role involves leading sophisticated controls construction projects with budgets exceeding $1M, ensuring project execution aligns with company standards and client expectations. Under general direction, you will be responsible for the financial and operational success of assigned projects. Collaboration with various teams including owners, contractors, sales managers, and installation managers is key to providing strategic guidance on vendor selection, value engineering, risk assessment, and scope improvements.

Responsibilities include:
  • Ensuring projects are completed accurately, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with the contract scope.
  • Maintaining positive cash flow and actively pursuing change orders to maximize project value.
  • Adhering to and enforcing safety standards with all staff and subcontractors.
  • Following consistent and repeatable project management procedures and processes.
  • Balancing client satisfaction with achieving project financial goals.


How You Will Do It
  • Act as the primary on-site leader for project execution teams, developing and adhering to project schedules.
  • Evaluate contractual scopes of work, addressing client-issued directives, and actively pursuing additional work through change orders.
  • Manage costs, billing, and collections to ensure profitability and positive cash flow.
  • Analyze financial reports and project schedules to proactively address potential issues.
  • Effectively communicate project progress, issues, and financial status to management.
  • Coordinate with various internal teams to allocate resources effectively and meet project objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and company standards during project execution.
  • Lead initiatives for engineering and commissioning to align with established standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Facilitate solutions for critical product-related issues and coordinate customer training requirements.


What We Look For
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture; or an associate's degree with equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience with large construction projects valued over $5 million.
  • Expertise in managing projects related to Mechanical Retrofits, HVAC controls, BAS systems, Fire management, and Security management is advantageous.
  • At least eight years of direct project management experience in the building construction industry.
  • Commitment to obtaining PMI/PMP certification within two years of employment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in project management software and financial accounting systems.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Writer, Visio, and Windows environments.
  • Flexibility to travel as required by project assignments.
  • Capability to manage complex projects involving multiple subcontractors and scopes of work.


HIRING SALARY RANGE: $94,000 - 150,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
