Silvi Materials continually undertakes capital improvement and construction projects to ensure it maintains state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. The Construction Project Manager will manage these projects with a positive demeanor, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently. The nature of the work will require that the candidate simultaneously supervise multiple construction projects from beginning to end, ensuring that projects are completed within time and budgetary constraints. An understanding of the construction business and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment are vital to success in this position.
Responsibilities: The scope of projects includes site construction, building and industrial facility construction.
- Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to on-time/on-budget completion.
- Collaborate with internal staff and ownership to develop project specifications, scope and budgets to meet operational needs.
- Work with outside engineers and architects to develop plans
- Coordinate bid and scope reviews with all workers and prospective subcontractors
- Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements and manage risk
- Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
- Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
- Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors
- Plan all construction operations to ensure deadlines and budgets are met by scheduling intermediate phases and completing critical path analysis.
- Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies
- Evaluate progress on a daily basis and prepare detailed project status reports
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues and collaborate with the Safety Director to address.
Qualifications Required:
- Industry experience is preferred but not required.
- Preferred Undergraduate degree in Construction, Civil Engineering or related field.
- Familiarity with construction processes on large projects with multiple phases.
- Ability to create complex budgets and project status reports.
- Ability to read shop drawings/blueprints.
- Understanding of standard construction contracts and the ability to negotiate same.
- Good communication, writing and computer skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Willing to work outdoors, in all weather conditions
