Full Job Description
As Construction Manager, you will own day-to-day field execution across AHC's Austin infill projects, delivering homes safely, on schedule, within budget, and to our quality standards. Reporting to the Director of Construction, you will manage multiple active sites, lead trade partners, and work closely with our installation team to align site readiness, building installation, and finish-out.

As our first Construction Manager in Austin, you will help establish how AHC runs its jobsites as we grow. This role requires a hands-on builder who combines the discipline of volume homebuilding with a practical understanding of infill construction, takes pride in clean and well-run sites, and builds strong working relationships with teammates, trades, and neighbors.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Manage field construction across multiple infill sites, from demolition, site preparation, utilities, and foundations through finish-out and final delivery.
  • Own field schedules, secure trade commitments, anticipate labor and material needs, and execute recovery plans to meet cycle-time and completion targets.
  • Plan site readiness and installation sequencing jointly with the installation team, including foundation readiness, deliveries, access, staging, and trade coordination. Complete joint readiness checks before mobilization and documented handoffs into finish-out, with clear ownership of outstanding work.
  • Direct trade partners and coordinate suppliers, holding them accountable for scope, schedule, workmanship, and site standards while maintaining productive working relationships.
  • Control field costs against approved budgets, verify completed work for payment, and track changes and projected overruns.
  • Enforce site safety and quality standards. Inspect work against approved plans and specifications, coordinate required inspections, and resolve deficiencies before they create rework or delay subsequent trades.
  • Maintain a consistently high standard of jobsite cleanliness, organization, security, and presentation throughout construction. Enforce daily cleanup, orderly material storage, debris removal, and upkeep of fencing and signage; coordinate safe, presentable conditions for scheduled buyer and partner visits.
  • Serve as AHC's day-to-day field contact in the community. Communicate disruptive work in advance, address concerns promptly, and manage noise, dust, parking, deliveries, and access to minimize disruption and protect adjacent properties.
  • Drive punch-list completion, final inspections, certificates of occupancy, and coordinated handover to sales and homeowners, delivering complete, clean, move-in-ready homes.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, progress photos, schedule updates, and cost documentation. Escalate risks early and share field feedback with design, production, installation, and purchasing to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 4+ years of residential construction experience, including responsibility for field delivery as a Construction Manager, Superintendent, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience with a production or high-volume homebuilder, managing multiple homes simultaneously and consistently meeting schedule, budget, and quality targets.
  • Strong practical understanding of urban infill construction, including constrained sites, utility coordination, limited staging, and work within established residential neighborhoods.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and trade scopes, sequence work, coordinate inspections, and resolve field issues across all phases of residential construction.
  • Strong field leadership and communication skills, with the ability to hold trades accountable, collaborate with internal teams, and represent AHC professionally with neighbors, inspectors, and buyers.
  • Willingness to learn AHC's building system, adopt shared processes, and help improve how work moves between installation and field completion.
  • Proficiency with construction scheduling and project management software; experience with Procore and Smartsheet preferred.
  • Direct experience with City of Austin permitting and inspections, established local trade relationships, and townhome or attached residential construction experience preferred.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Candidates must be based in Austin, TX full-time.
  • This role requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions and manually lifting and moving construction materials as needed.
  • AHC provides comprehensive benefits, PTO, and participation in company equity programs.
