Construction Manager - Geotechnical
Location: Project-Based
Employment Type: Full-Time
Travel: Site Based in Hubbard, TX OR up to 75% Travel Required

Position Overview
As a Construction Manager, you will lead geotechnical investigation, site characterization, and construction materials testing activities for large-scale data center and infrastructure projects. You will work closely with engineering consultants, geotechnical firms, testing providers, construction teams, and project stakeholders to ensure subsurface conditions, earthwork operations, and material performance requirements are properly understood and validated throughout project delivery. This role serves as a key connection between engineering and construction, helping teams identify project risks, evaluate site conditions, and develop practical solutions that support successful project outcomes. Success requires strong technical knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead geotechnical investigation and construction materials testing programs for mission-critical and large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate drilling contractors, testing laboratories, engineering consultants, survey teams, and construction personnel to support project activities.
  • Review geotechnical reports, laboratory test results, field observations, and engineering recommendations to support project planning and execution.
  • Manage site characterization efforts including soil borings, test pits, subsurface investigations, and earthwork validation programs.
  • Identify geotechnical risks, constructability concerns, and site-related challenges while developing practical mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure testing, inspection, and documentation activities are completed in accordance with project specifications and quality requirements.

What You'll Do
  • Manage geotechnical and materials testing activities supporting hyperscale data center and infrastructure developments.
  • Coordinate field investigations, laboratory testing programs, and engineering evaluations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support site development efforts by providing technical guidance related to foundations, earthwork, ground improvement, and soil stabilization.
  • Review testing results and inspection reports to verify compliance with design criteria and project specifications.
  • Collaborate with project management, engineering, and field teams to resolve subsurface conditions and construction challenges.
  • Provide project stakeholders with accurate reporting, risk assessments, and recommendations to support informed decision-making.

What It Takes
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline and 7+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing geotechnical investigations, site characterization programs, soil testing, materials testing, or construction quality programs on large infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering principles, earthwork operations, soil classification, compaction testing, and foundation systems.
  • Experience reviewing geotechnical reports, laboratory test results, subsurface investigations, and engineering recommendations.
  • Knowledge of field testing procedures, quality assurance processes, and construction inspection practices.
  • Experience supporting site development, heavy civil construction, data center, transportation, energy, utility, or industrial projects preferred.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, grading plans, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience coordinating engineering consultants, testing agencies, contractors, and project teams.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Engineer-in-Training (EIT), PG, CWI, ICC, NICET, or related certifications are preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% and support onsite project assignments as required.
