Full Job Description
The Track Construction Manager leads the planning and delivery of trackworks across new and operational railway infrastructure, including special trackwork, track renewal, earthworks, and associated systems, supporting network capacity improvements through infrastructure upgrades, electrification, and modern signalling.

The Track Construction Manager's key responsibilities are:
  • Define construction methodologies and detailed method statements for trackworks execution
  • Lead field operations across multiple work fronts, ensuring efficient coordination of labour, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Plan and manage daily and long-term construction activities aligned with project schedules and milestones
  • Drive productivity while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and performance
  • Oversee strategic planning and performance management of railway equipment and heavy construction plant across trackworks activities
  • Lead the planning, safe loading, and operational deployment of engineering trains and rail-mounted equipment, ensuring optimal utilization of hi-rail excavators (MLDs), track laying systems (PEM-LEM), OTMs, and heavy plant including tamping machines and regulators
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with engineering, planning, and project teams to ensure alignment with design and execution
  • Support internal departments including Planning, Cost Control, Estimating, Scheduling, Technical Office, HSE, and QA/QC
  • Support procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Oversee quality control and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead, mentor, and develop site teams
  • Act as primary interface with the client

Education and Qualification
  • 10-15 years of railway construction experience (Contractor side)
  • Minimum 6 years in heavy rail/ballasted track construction
  • Experience in brownfield/operational railway environments
  • Experience delivering track renewals and special trackwork (S&C)
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end track construction processes
  • Hands-on experience with rail equipment (hi-rail, tampers, regulators, track machines)
  • Strong safety leadership in high-risk environments
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and survey data
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage teams

Job Requirements

  • Consultancy experience in railway projects.
  • Design experience in railway projects.
  • Experience in large rail programs or consortium environments
  • Ability to manage human teams under pressure in railway environments.
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to different environments (different resources, different requirements/rules, differences in human resources management).


Salary Range: $250,000 - $270,000
