Position OverviewThis individual will direct the electrical and commissioning portions of the project and reports to the Site Manager. Our Construction Managers (Electrical / Commissioning) are responsible for all electrical / commissioning construction activities as well as construction support for start-up and technical activities on solar, battery storage, substation, and transmission projects.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring construction work is executed as per engineering drawing specifications, design standards and contractual requirements
- Ensures that all safety standards, company construction standards, company specifications and governmental regulations are met.
- Assisting in monitoring the overall Safety Management Plan, the site Environmental Management Plan, Quality Management Plan, Request for Information, Change Notices, Non-Conformance Reports, commissioning and energizing processes, As-Built completions and contract compliance
- Assisting the Site Manager with scope of work portion of contracts, bid evaluation, land owner concerns, vegetation or access issues, constructability reviews and creating the construction schedule, including identifying outages as required
- Maintains frequent and regular contact with contractor supervision regarding job performance and documents results appropriately.
- Ensures that the terms and conditions of the contract and technical specifications are met.
- Implementing continuous improvements to positively impact project performance
- Maintaining Qualus’s contractual responsibilities
- Establishing and maintaining Qualus’s relationships with clients and other 3rd par-ties
- Monitoring the construction and commissioning of all projects for schedule changes and tracking and reporting progress on a daily, weekly and monthly basis: identifying any issues that could delay the schedule,
- Providing advice on course of action to maintain the schedule within authority lev-els or escalating to quickly address
- Monitoring and auditing construction and materials management documentation to ensure that the facilities are being constructed to meet the quality specifications
- Assisting with replying to RFI’s, issuing Site Instructions, NCRs and coordinating en-ergization documentation
- Monitor all deliveries of all Owner Furnished Equipment and document any dam-ages
- Assist in coordinating the installation of telecommunications to the point of demar-cation
- Attend site meetings with Owner, Construction Contractor, Subcontractors, Materials Supplier as required to effectively carry out Services. Such meetings may include preconstruction, construction progress, on
site troubleshooting, resolution, special review, punch list and final walkthrough meetings, startup, and close
out meetings
- Manage, review, quality check and report on all electrical / commissioning activities through project completion including:
- Equipment Installation, commissioning, and start-up
- Provide Site Manager with input to reports and registers as needed
- Review turnover packages from Construction Contractor
- Coordinate with Owners Engineer as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years experience in the construction, maintenance, controls or commissioning of Utility Scale Solar, Battery Storage, Substations and/or Power Line Projects
- NFPA 70E
- OSHA 30
- Experience with ERCOT considered an asset
- Results oriented with the capacity to successfully manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines
- Superior analytical, problem solving, audit and investigation skills
- Demonstrated effective leadership interacting with multiple internal disciplines and external customers in areas of electrical design, commissioning, and start-up activities
- Working knowledge of contract terms and conditions with the ability to manage to the specification of a contract
- In-depth knowledge of materials, construction standards, regulations (OSHA), and safety requirements for solar, battery storage, transmission, distribution, and substation construction.
- Excellent and professional communication, interpersonal and team building skills within a diverse work group
- Thorough knowledge of PC and job/work management applications including MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work autonomously with frequent travel to remote site locations within an assigned geographical region
- Valid driver's license and clean driving abstract
- Available to travel within the US
