Job SummaryAs a Construction Engineer in the Chicago area, you'll provide full-time on-site oversight for water and sewer infrastructure projects, ensuring contractor compliance, quality, and safety. You'll coordinate daily construction activities, review submittals and pay applications, monitor schedules, and serve as a key liaison between the Owner, contractors, and project stakeholders to keep projects moving efficiently. This position is for a future award.
Responsibilities & QualificationsDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Provide full-time on-site construction oversight and contract administration
- Ensure contractor compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and safety requirements
- Coordinate daily construction activities and resolve field issues
- Review and approve submittals, and testing compliance
- Monitor construction schedule and notify the Owner of potential delays
- Review contractor pay applications and verify quantities and progress
- Prepare daily reports, meeting minutes, and progress documentation
- Coordinate inspections, testing, and acceptance of completed work
- Enforce quality control and workmanship standards
- Serve as liaison between Owner, Contractor, inspectors, and stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS:- Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related field.
- 4-5+ years of experience in Resident Engineer activities and managing construction field teams on water and/or sewer infrastructure projects
- Experience with water and sewer construction projects, Project Management Procedures (PMP's) and Project Management Guidelines (PMG's) familiarity a plus.
- Preferred Certifications, but not required: Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Professional Engineer (PE)
- Candidate must have reliable transportation.
