Construction Accounting Manager

Location: Metro Atlanta, GA
Salary: Up to $110,000 per year

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team in Metro Atlanta. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting within the construction industry, with proficiency in QuickBooks software. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of financial operations, including job cost accounting, payroll, and financial reporting, while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Management:
    • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and job costing.
    • Manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting for construction projects and the overall company.
  • Job Cost Accounting:
    • Maintain accurate job cost records, including tracking labor, materials, and overhead expenses.
    • Collaborate with project managers to analyze job costs and provide regular financial updates to ensure projects stay within budget.
  • Payroll Management:
    • Supervise payroll processing and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations.
    • Manage payroll for both direct employees and subcontractors, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance:
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.
  • Accounts Receivable & Payable:
    • Oversee invoicing, collections, and accounts payable functions to maintain positive cash flow.
    • Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors, ensuring timely payments and addressing any discrepancies.
  • System Management & Process Improvement:
    • Utilize QuickBooks software to manage and streamline accounting processes.
    • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting and job costing.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
    • Provide guidance and training on accounting procedures, software usage, and financial analysis.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction accounting, with a minimum of 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks software is required.
  • Strong knowledge of construction industry accounting practices, job cost accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience managing payroll for construction companies, including knowledge of union and non-union payroll processes.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • CPA certification is a plus but not required.
