Conflicts Counsel to join its Office of the General Counsel. This is a single opening, with flexibility to work from one of the following offices: Century City, Del Mar, Los Angeles, Orange County, Downtown San Diego, or San Francisco.
Location: California (Hybrid/Flexible)
Compensation: $190,000-$225,000 annually + bonus eligibility
Work Arrangement: Primarily remote, with in-office attendance as needed
Travel: Up to 10%
What They're Looking For - J.D. from an accredited law school.
- 3+ years of experience conducting conflicts analysis, preferably within a law firm.
- Strong knowledge of legal conflict-of-interest rules and professional responsibility.
- Experience reviewing, analyzing, and resolving conflicts involving new clients, new matters, and lateral attorney hires.
- Ability to work with attorneys to identify business conflicts and determine appropriate resolutions.
- Experience supporting client intake, including drafting conflict waivers, reviewing engagement letters, and implementing outside counsel guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, effective communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Key Responsibilities - Conduct conflicts searches and analyze potential conflicts involving new clients, matters, and lateral hires.
- Coordinate with attorneys to resolve legal and business conflicts.
- Support client intake by reviewing submissions for completeness and accuracy.
- Draft and review conflict waivers, engagement letters, and outside counsel guidelines.
- Advise attorneys and staff on conflicts, waivers, intake procedures, and related professional responsibility matters.
Work Environment This position offers flexibility to work remotely, with the expectation of reporting to the office as needed. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required based on workload.
Who Would Be a Fit? An attorney with at least three years of hands-on conflicts analysis experience who understands law firm conflicts procedures, can independently evaluate potential conflicts, and is comfortable working directly with attorneys on resolutions.
Who Would Not Be a Fit? Candidates without a J.D., those lacking at least three years of conflicts analysis experience, or attorneys whose backgrounds are limited to general legal practice without substantive conflicts review experience.
