Identity & Access Management (IAM) Engineer III
Location: Remote
Department: Risk Management / Information Security
Pay Range: $50/hour to $60/hour
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Identity & Access Management (IAM) Engineer III to support, enhance, and maintain highly available identity and access management systems and integrations.

This role is responsible for implementing and supporting IAM solutions across the full identity lifecycle, including account provisioning, updates, deprovisioning, authentication, authorization, access reviews, and application integrations.

The IAM Engineer will work extensively with Okta, AWS, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Python, Single Sign-On (SSO), and identity lifecycle management technologies. This position will also serve as a technical resource and security advisor to internal stakeholders while helping improve IAM processes, system performance, security, and the overall user experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesIAM Engineering & Application Integration

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Okta Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize Okta Workflows.
• Develop and update Python-based AWS Lambda functions supporting IAM processes and integrations.
• Deploy and promote IAM configuration changes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies and tools.
• Install, upgrade, maintain, and monitor Okta agents.
• Configure and maintain Okta Universal Directory.
• Support identity lifecycle processes, including user provisioning, account updates, deprovisioning, and access management.
• Review AWS IAM roles and access requests to support appropriate access controls and security standards.
• Develop or support custom IAM solutions using Okta and other third-party platforms.

Security Strategy & Stakeholder Partnership

• Serve as a technical point of contact and IAM security advisor for stakeholder teams.
• Review business and technical requests to ensure alignment with established identity security and access management best practices.
• Evaluate new features and capabilities within supported IAM technologies.
• Partner with IAM technical leads, senior engineers, security teams, and business stakeholders on new initiatives and assigned projects.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen IAM security, automation, scalability, and user experience.

Operations & Team Support

• Create and maintain clear technical documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members.
• Participate in technical planning sessions, code reviews, standups, Kanban activities, and other Agile team processes.
• Identify and communicate opportunities for process, security, and technology improvements.
• Participate in a rotating on-call support schedule.
• Troubleshoot and resolve IAM-related incidents and service requests.
• Provide technical support to stakeholders, Information Security, and Risk Management teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3-5+ years of relevant experience in Identity & Access Management, information security, cloud engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience with Identity & Access Management (IAM) technologies and processes.
• Experience configuring or supporting Okta, including SSO integrations and identity lifecycle management.
• Experience with or working knowledge of AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies and deployment processes.
• Familiarity with scripting or software development practices, preferably using Python.
• Understanding of coding standards, development practices, and code review processes.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams, security professionals, business stakeholders, and leadership.
• Ability to learn new technologies and remain current with evolving IAM, cloud, and cybersecurity practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certification related to Identity & Access Management, Okta, AWS, cloud security, or cybersecurity.
• Experience developing AWS Lambda functions using Python.
• Experience developing or maintaining Okta Workflows.
• Experience with Okta Universal Directory.
• Experience implementing IAM solutions through Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Knowledge of Privileged Access Management (PAM) technologies and practices.
• Knowledge of Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) principles or platforms.
• Understanding of authentication, authorization, provisioning, access governance, and least-privilege principles.
• Experience working within Agile, Scrum, or Kanban environments.
