Full Job Description
Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid) We are looking for a Configuration Management Specialist to join our growing team at Toronto. You will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Configuration Management functions in assigned projects/products, to assure consistency in application of Configuration Management principles and change control processes over the lifecycle of a project/product. Key Responsibilities: • Implements the Configuration Management system for the project/product • Ensures consistency of information in the configuration management system for the project / product • Participates in the analysis of contractual requirements for Configuration Management, prepares cost and time estimates during the bid and major project phases, and identifies associated risks • Describes, implements and maintains the fundamental activities within the relevant Configuration Management Plan including, Configuration Management and Planning; Configuration Identification; Configuration Control; Configuration Status Accounting; Configuration verification and audit • Manages the implementation of the PLM system for configuration management of the project/product including analysis of requirements; system configuration; customization; data loading and end-user training • Provides technical leadership and solves complex problems as required • Participates in creation of Product Breakdown Structure (PBS) • Establishes Configuration Management (CM) baselines such as FBL, ABL or PBL • Perform, Functional Configuration Audit (FCA), Physical Configuration Audit (PCA), Software Configuration Audits (SCA) and software build verification on software releases • Ensures proper use of PLM system and end to end implementation of the CM practices on the assigned Project/Product as well as coaching of the project team members on CM principals and use of PLM • Provides support services to resolve configuration management issues during product and project lifecycles; escalate and complete (as much as possible) corrective actions in a timely fashion • Responsible to maintain consistency of information in the configuration management system for the project / product both in Country of Origin (COO) and Country of Destination (COD) • Specifies to sub-contractors and suppliers the CM requirements through Statement of Work and ensures the follow up of compliance to those requirements • Liaises with other Hitachi Rail unit CM personnel involved in the project as well as with subcontractors/suppliers regarding project CM related issues • Contributes to the improvement initiatives of CM procedures and tools and overall development of the discipline, coaching of peers and new tool end-users • Provides leadership to drive organizational change. In particular, partners with the engineering departments to provide advice and guidance for the adoption of new processes. • May coordinate Configuration Administrators of the organization for the execution of CM system while responsible and accountable for the consistency of the related perimeter configuration information Required Skills and Experience: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience • A minimum 5 years' experience in monitoring Systems, Software/Hardware development through a direct role in CM, within Engineering or transverse • Extensive knowledge and experience of CM practices and principles • Experience with CM software and hardware and development processes • Strong problem solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills • Familiarity with commercial version control and problem reporting tools • Good written and verbal communication skills to allow effective communication with both technical and non-technical teams Preferred Skills and Experience: • Working experience with PLM systems (preferred Windchill/Palma) • Railway Industry experience (or similar) with understanding of the context for the job function : complex system development • Knowledge of any of the following would be an asset: Microsoft Access, Visual Studio, DOORS, ClearCase/GIT, ClearQuest/JIRA, ERP (SAP) Total Compensation: CAD $104,350 - $133,780 The Company provides an extensive benefits program for all full-time employees working 24 or more hours per week and their eligible dependents, including the following: • Health, Dental and Vision plans - 100% of premiums are company-paid • Retirement Savings Plan with a company contribution and a match, and without vesting period • Company paid holidays - 3 weeks of vacation, Holiday closure, personal emergency leave days and sick days • Maternity/Parental/Adoption top up pay • Annual Incentive plan • Company provided Life Insurance, STD and Employee Assistance Plan * This posting relates to an existing vacancy. * Artificial intelligence may be used in the screening or assessment process for this role.
