Position Overview
QinetiQ is seeking an experienced Configuration Management Manager to lead Configuration Management (CM) activities supporting engineering, production, and operations across QinetiQ's U.S. Sector, with a focus on product realization. The selected candidate will provide leadership for Configuration Management personnel, processes, and tools while ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and internal requirements.
The Configuration Management Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining Configuration Management policies, processes, and best practices across multiple programs. This role oversees the management of Configuration Items and Configuration Data for complex hardware and software systems, leads a team of Configuration Management professionals, and partners with engineering, manufacturing, quality, program management, and customers to ensure configuration integrity throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Configuration Management function across multiple programs and projects.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop Configuration Management personnel while promoting continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Establish, implement, and maintain Configuration Management policies, procedures, and work instructions consistent with industry standards and customer requirements.
- Ensure the integrity and traceability of product configurations throughout the design, development, manufacturing, test, deployment, and sustainment lifecycle.
- Serve as the primary Configuration Management authority and subject matter expert for the organization.
- Lead Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) and oversee the review, approval, implementation, and documentation of engineering changes.
- Provide strategic oversight of configuration identification, configuration control, configuration status accounting, configuration verification, and configuration audits.
- Ensure contractually required configuration documentation and technical data packages are complete, accurate, and delivered on schedule.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Operations to ensure consistent application of Configuration Management processes.
- Oversee Configuration Management tools and systems, ensuring effective administration, process compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Develop metrics and reporting to monitor Configuration Management performance, compliance, and process effectiveness.
- Plan staffing, workload, and resource allocation to support current and future program needs.
- Support proposal activities, program startup efforts, and customer audits related to Configuration Management.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and customer-specific Configuration Management requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, STEM, Business, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of Configuration Management experience supporting complex hardware and software development programs.
- 2+ years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience managing technical or Configuration Management personnel.
- Demonstrated experience leading Configuration Management activities across multiple programs or product lines.
- Strong knowledge of Configuration Management principles and industry standards, including EIA-649 and MIL-HDBK-61A.
- Experience supporting both hardware and software development environments.
- Experience supporting both development and production environments.
- Experience leading Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), change management processes, and configuration audits.
- Strong organizational, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Ability to influence stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program management organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing Configuration Management within a defense or aerospace environment.
- Experience with Windchill PLM/PDM or similar Product Lifecycle Management systems.
- Experience with ASME Y14.100 and technical data package management.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or equivalent quality management systems.
- Experience supporting U.S. Government and Department of Defense programs.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Configuration and Data Manager (CCDM), or similar professional certification is a plus.
Pay Transparency
The salary range for this role is $135,000 - $175,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
