The Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Surface Surveillance Systems Support Team provides engineering support for Airport Surface Detection Equipment (ASDE-3 and ASDE-X), Runway Status Lights (RWSL) and Airport Surface Surveillance Capability (ASSC) systems. Responsibilities:- Provide engineering support services for resolving hardware/software issues on surface movement radar equipment at field sites
- Support technology refresh of legacy system hardware and software
- Provide root cause analysis on hardware failures
- Assist with unit, regression and integration testing
- Occasional travel to airports across the nation to provide engineering support
Requirements:US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required. All applicants must have resided in the United States for the past 3 years.
On-site presence will be as required by the FAA.- 3+ years' experience with the hardware/software development life cycle including gather requirements, development, testing and release
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to organize, present and explain information
- Excited to participate in a team environment but able to work well individually
- Self-motivated to deliver quality products with limited direction and guidance
- Understands the importance of collaboration with other team members
- Ability to adapt to/learn how to use new systems and custom software
- Ability to pass an FAA background investigation
- Ability to travel 25% of the time depending on the needs of the business
Education/Experience:- A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required. The degree must be from a school of engineering accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum.
- Knowledge of radar operations and RF is a plus
- Software programming experience using object-oriented languages such as JAVA, C++, GO or C# is desirable
- Working knowledge of test equipment such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, or other data acquisition equipment
- Experience using software version control software such as GIT and issue tracking software such as JIRA
- Experience with AutoCAD is a plus
