Full Job Description
Component Program Manager HP Workstations

Overview

We are seeking a Component Program Manager to own the program management aspects of critical workstation components, technologies, and processes.. This role partners closely with electrical engineers who own technical design and validation, while independently driving schedule, logistics, vendor coordination, execution rigor, and cross-functional alignment across the full product lifecycle.

This role is ideal for a strong program manager who enjoys working at the intersection of hardware development, external partners, and internal engineering teams, and who is comfortable navigating technically complex programs without being the technical decision maker. This role operates alongside expert electrical engineers who own technical decisions, validation, and root cause analysis. The Component Program Manager is accountable for program execution, not hands-on engineering design. Over time, this role will expand to cover additional components, technical domains, and processes as organizational needs evolve.

Key Responsibilities

The following are examples of potential key responsibilities. Actual ownership will vary based on business needs.

Power Supply (PSU) Program Management

  • Own end-to-end program management for workstation power supplies, from early development through end of life.
  • Serve as the primary interface to multiple external PSU vendors, managing schedules, deliverables, documentation flow, and execution risks.
  • Coordinate with an Outside Design and Manufacturing (ODM) system integrator responsible for PSU integration at the system level.
  • Manage sample builds, logistics, and test readiness across vendors, ODMs, and internal engineering teams.
  • Partner with stakeholders across prototyping, certification, compliance, documentation, manufacturing, and product support to ensure product readiness and alignment.
  • Own program oversight of global power cords for workstations, ensuring correct regional variants and compliance.

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Program Management

  • Own the program management aspects of EMC readiness across workstation platforms.
  • Coordinate EMC testing execution performed by, or under the oversight of, ODM partners.
  • Ensure EMC testing, troubleshooting, and triage activities are planned effectively, executed on schedule, and escalated appropriately when issues arise.
  • Track EMC risks, readiness milestones, and corrective actions, partnering with engineering leaders for technical resolution.

Component Sustaining Program Management

  • Represent the technical design team in program team meetings and processes for sustaining programs.
  • Drive program plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, and execution status across internal engineering, operations, supply chain, quality, and manufacturing teams.
  • Own escalation and decision frameworks while leveraging subject-matter experts for technical depth.
  • Manage HP's internal System of Record for various components throughout the component lifecycle.

Material Science Lab Liaison

  • Interface with our onsite Material Science Lab to make sure that Workstation components meet quality, reliability, and environmental sustainability requirements.
  • Drive test plans and results. Interface with external partners to address issues.

Qualifications

  • Proven program management experience within hardware, systems, or technology product development.
  • Demonstrated success managing external vendors or manufacturing partners, including schedules, deliverables, and cross-company coordination.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and execution skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Comfort working in technically complex environments.
  • Four-year Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in project or program management, preferably in a technical field.

The pay range for this role is $83,000.00 - $120,350.00 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
