What is the role?

We are seeking a Compliance Manager to strengthen and manage our compliance programs across legal, operational, and financial domains. This role covers a broad range of responsibilities including foreign ownership, control, export controls, cybersecurity (CMMC/NIST), shipping and customs compliance, finance and operational oversight, and influence (FOCI) mitigation. The position requires close collaboration with Legal, Security, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Program Management teams to mitigate compliance risks and support strategic business objectives.

The role is based in Denver, Colorado, where we are building high-performing and fast-paced teams. The position will be primarily on-site and in person at the office.

Some of your daily tasks will include:
FOCI & National Security Compliance
  • Develop, implement, and maintain FOCI mitigation measures, security plans, operating plans, and other mitigation strategies required by the US government.
  • Coordinate with government agencies and external counsel to ensure compliance with FOCI mitigation requirements.
  • Monitor adherence to mitigation agreements, prepare required reports, and ensure all certifications are current.
  • Advise leadership on national security compliance risks and remediation strategies.
Export Controls
  • Administer and manage ITAR and EAR compliance programs across the company.
  • Categorize products, technology, and technical data for export control purposes.
  • Manage the preparation, submission, and tracking of export licenses, technical assistance agreements, and other government filings.
  • Provide training, guidance, and day-to-day support to teams on export compliance, including identifying potential risk areas.
  • Maintain records and implement processes to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance audits are successful.
Cybersecurity & CMMC
  • Support compliance with CMMC, NIST 800-171, and other government cybersecurity requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT, Security, and external auditors to assess compliance gaps and implement remediation plans.
  • Maintain documentation and evidence to support audit readiness and certification efforts.
  • Educate staff on cybersecurity policies and their role in maintaining compliance.
Shipping, Receiving, & Customs
  • Oversee compliance related to importing and exporting hardware, software, and technical data.
  • Ensure proper documentation for customs, shipping, and international freight forwarding.
  • Maintain compliance with US agencies, import/export regulations, and country-of-origin rules.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and logistics teams to identify risks and resolve compliance issues.
Finance & Operational Compliance
  • Collaborate with Finance to ensure proper oversight of government contracts, including financial tracking, billing, and internal control compliance.
  • Support audits and reviews by internal and external auditors to verify adherence to financial compliance standards.
  • Develop processes for tracking, documenting, and mitigating compliance risks in operational and financial workflows.
  • Partner with program management and operations teams to identify compliance risks in projects, manufacturing, and supply chain activities.
  • Provide guidance on implementing internal controls to prevent fraud, mismanagement, or regulatory violations.
  • Monitor financial transactions and contracts to ensure alignment with regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Track and analyze regulatory changes, assess business impact, and communicate requirements to leadership and staff.

What do we look for?
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, or at least 5 years of experience related to the role.
  • 5+ years of compliance experience in aerospace, defense, space technology, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Strong knowledge of US export controls (ITAR/EAR) and government contracting regulations.
  • Experience with FOCI mitigation, national security, or related government requirements.
  • Familiarity with CMMC, NIST 800-171, or equivalent cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in operational, engineering, or technical environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to operate independently while collaborating across diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and risk-assessment skills.
  • Based in the Denver area or able to relocate.
  • US citizenship.

    Salary range: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, plus an incentive-based commission structure. The state of Colorado requires listing salary details. The salary will likely be within this range although it may differ based on experience level or other factors.
