What You9ll Do This position will be located at our Corporate Office: 2355 W Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85027

The Compliance Manager / BSA Officer oversees the BSA Team and is responsible for managing the credit union9s enterprise compliance program and serving as the designated Bank Secrecy Act Officer. This role provides leadership, oversight, and day-to-day coordination of regulatory compliance activities, including the Bank Secrecy Act, anti-money laundering, countering the financing of terrorism, OFAC, Customer Identification Program, Customer Due Diligence, beneficial ownership, suspicious activity monitoring, currency transaction reporting, and related financial crimes compliance obligations.

Essential Functions
  • Manage and maintain the credit union9s enterprise compliance management program, including policies, procedures, monitoring, testing, training, issue management, and reporting.
  • Monitor federal and state regulatory developments applicable to credit unions and coordinate timely implementation of required changes.
  • Provide compliance guidance to business units on deposit, lending, digital banking, member service, marketing, operations, privacy, and other regulatory matters.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify compliance risks, design effective controls, and support sustainable remediation of issues, audit findings, and examination matters.
  • Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, values, and applicable laws; ensures effective hiring, development, performance management, and employee relations practices, either directly or through others, as appropriate to the role.
  • Provides management and professional leadership to compliance staff and leads various risk-related projects as determined by the Chief Risk Officer.
  • Serve as the credit union9s designated BSA Officer, responsible for coordinating and monitoring day-to-day compliance with BSA, AML, CFT, OFAC, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate governance, documentation, escalation, and reporting for Suspicious Activity Reports, Currency Transaction Reports, high-risk members, money services businesses, cash-intensive businesses, politically exposed persons, negative news, and other elevated-risk relationships.
  • Provide periodic BSA/AML program updates to senior management, the Supervisory Committee, including key risks, trends, program performance, regulatory changes, audit results, examination matters, and remediation status.
  • Ensure BSA/AML staff and appropriate credit union personnel receive role-based training that is current, relevant, and aligned with OneAZ9s risk profile.
  • Lead, coach, and develop compliance and BSA team members, as assigned, including workload management, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Promote a culture of compliance, ethical conduct, member protection, and proactive risk management across the credit union.
  • Build strong working relationships with Internal Audit, Risk Management, Fraud, Information Security, Operations, Marketing. Lending, Retail, Digital Banking, Legal, and other key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate BSA/AML examinations, independent testing, audits, regulatory inquiries, law enforcement requests, and related corrective action plans.
  • Maintain oversight of BSA/AML and OFAC systems, alert workflows, case management, model or rule tuning coordination, quality assurance, and management reporting.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and executive-ready reports, presentations, procedures, and communications for management and governance committees.
  • Oversee the written BSA/AML compliance program, including internal controls, independent testing coordination, member due diligence, suspicious activity monitoring, currency transaction reporting, recordkeeping, and training.
  • Develop and maintain compliance risk assessments, monitoring plans, management reporting, and escalation protocols
  • Represent the Risk Management Team on all projects and initiatives providing regulatory compliance guidance.

What You Bring
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor9s Degree in in business, finance, accounting, criminal justice, risk management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Required.
  • 5-8 similar or related experience in Progressively responsible compliance, BSA/AML, audit, risk management, or financial services experience, preferably in a credit union or community financial institution Required
  • Strong working knowledge of BSA/AML, OFAC, Customer Identification Program, Customer Due Diligence, suspicious activity reporting, currency transaction reporting, and credit union regulatory compliance requirements. Required
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations, audits, compliance testing, issue management, and board or executive reporting Required
  • Knowledge of credit union operations, member service delivery channels, digital account opening, payments, lending, deposits, and emerging financial crime typologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret regulations, assess risk, communicate requirements, and partner with business units to implement practical compliance solutions.
  • Regulatory judgment and risk-based decision-making
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive and board-level reporting.
  • Analytical thinking, investigation skills, and attention to detail.
