Introduction to the Job

The CS Quality and Excellence for the Intel CT & US Region is part of the Customer Support organization. The team support all local US sites operationally and the Intel sites WW for customer quality engagement. The Quality & Excellence team is responsible to define and drive the quality improvement roadmap for the US region.

The team consists of 4 main pillars to enable driving Quality as an operations:

Customer Quality - [Customer Team]

The customer quality managers secure progress and communication of quality incidents (tactical) and quality programs (strategic). They are also responsible to share customer's voice internal at local sites and towards upstream solution providers. Service Quality Engineering - [Regional]

Support local operations to address quality disturbances captured in the disturbance review meetings. Service Quality Excellence - [Regional]

Drive quality programs; internal and ISO audit, Quality training, craftmanship, New Machine Quality, etc. Logistics Quality - [Regional]
Focus on material return quality, inspections, stock purge, tool calibrations & certification

Roles and Responsibilities

The Quality Competency Engineer is part of the Service Quality Engineering team with team members at the different CS US locations. As local Quality Competency Engineer you are responsible to support the local CS teams with quality disturbances encountered in the operations. In this role you will join the daily disturbance review (DDT/DRB) meetings where quality disturbances are reviewed. As quality engineer you support the local team to analyze these disturbances and define & implement corrective actions. (i.e. D12). You are also responsible to drive the structural follow-up for disturbances which require containments or solutions upstream to improve ASML products and quality processes, based on following activities;
  • Closely collaborate with the local service and/or UIR team
    • Participate in local disturbance meetings on daily basis to review quality hits and help guide the team on all information to be collected and analyzed. Support local team with RCA, 5xWhy, 8D process for technical and non-technical issues (including data analysis of scanner, source, and DL).
    • Support local operations with follow-up on local disturbances like workmanship events (guide through D12 process)
    • Take ownership for DOA intake to ensure all information is collected and material is returned according to PMR (Perfect Material Return) standards in order to avoid NFF (no fault found) when RCA (root cause analysis) is performed by the supplier. If needed the Quality engineer supports in the local warehouse with the CSCM team. The Service Quality Engineering team has the target to have first time right for DOA intake.
    • Track and ensure DOAs are getting driven to closure by Central Quality Team and feedback corrective and preventative actions to the local teams.
    • Develop and implement best-known-methods to drive optimized site to site performance.
    • Improve service mix and structural issue documentation including initiation, review, and improvement rollout.
    • Understand and drive continuous improvement towards ASML's performance and quality KPI targets.
  • Closely collaborate with the DOA and NMQ (New Machine Quality) Program Managers of the Service Excellence Quality team:
    • Provide understanding of DOA and NMQ hits
    • Support the program manager to define systematic/common root causes which need to be structurally driven by the program managers
  • Support driving the quality mindset & training within US region
    • Define and drive activities to increase the CS engineers awareness/ Quality mindset required to embed the Quality behaviors within the organization.
    • Support the definition and push the needs for Quality training (i.e. regarding material handling, 8D Problem solving)
    • Perform GEMBAs with local natural team to support the focus on Quality.


Position in the Organization
  • This position of Quality Competency Engineer is located in US Region supporting local teams.
  • Reports hierarchically to the Leader of the Service Quality Engineering.

Job Specifications
  • Supports local teams to improve on Quality locally and drives improvements upstream for quality hits encountered at the local customer site.
  • Provide training to local teams on quality processes as needed.
  • Interface with:
    • In region: Customer Quality team, Service Quality Excellence team, Regional Opps Support and Local CS team
    • Towards Central: Quality leads in segments EUV, DUV, APPS, Quality lead of Supply Chain (CSCM) and CS central quality leads.


Educational and Experience
  • Bachelor degree with 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the semiconductor industry
  • Experience in Professional Field Service Operations
  • Experience in Quality engineering
  • EUV, DUV and/or APPS experience required
