Communications Specialist

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid) - must be onsite 3 days per week

Clearance: Secret (Top Secret preferred)

Status: Exempt

Salary: $130,000.00 - $140,000.00

Position Summary

We are seeking a proactive and strategic IT Communications Specialist to lead and support communications initiatives that promote transparency, credibility, and user engagement across our federal government customer. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of multi-channel communication strategies and thrive in fast-paced, high-impact environments, including emergency response scenarios.

Basic Qualifications:
• Education: BS Degree
• Years of experience: 10 years of relevant IT Communications Specialist experience
• U.S. Citizen
• Prepared to work onsite in downtown Washington, DC at least 2 days per week
• Experience working in a federal government environment is preferred
• Eligible for a Secret clearance

Key Responsibilities:
• Execute IT Communication Strategies: Implement communication plans that foster transparency and build trust through open, consistent, and proactive messaging.
• Multi-Channel Customer Communications: Develop and deliver timely communications across a variety of platforms including intranet, Microsoft Teams, email, and Automated Call Distribution (ACD) systems for both proactive initiatives and reactive events.
• Draft and Edit IT Customer Messaging: Prepare clear, concise communications related to service releases, updates, outages, and other IT-related topics for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Emergency Communications: Collaborate with technical leads during critical incidents to ensure prompt, accurate, and recurring updates are provided to customers and leadership.
• Website Content Management: Curate and maintain up-to-date content for customer web sites, including service availabilities and knowledge base articles.
• Project Communication Planning: Assist in developing communication plans to support change management and effectively guide customers through IT transitions.
• Template Development: Create and maintain a library of communication templates that ensure consistency, clarity, and alignment with customer branding standards.
• Executive Communications Support: Contribute to the preparation of formal communications from the CIO's office, including town hall presentations and briefings for executive or oversight committees.
• Brand Consistency: Ensure all communication materials align with customer's visual identity and tone standards.
