Position Overview

Fusion Innovation is seeking a Communications Officer to support a mission-focused organization's internal and external communication requirements. The selected candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of communications and data-visualization professionals and provide high-quality communications support to senior leadership and front office stakeholders. This role requires an experienced communicator who can develop clear, compelling content, manage competing priorities, and support off-site events and organizational activities. Occasional travel is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute communication plans that support leadership priorities and organizational objectives.
  • Draft, edit, and coordinate executive communications, announcements, talking points, briefings, articles, and other materials.
  • Translate complex information into clear and engaging content for a variety of audiences.
  • Provide front office-level communications support to senior leaders.
  • Coordinate messaging and content across leadership, program teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage content for internal websites and digital communication platforms.
  • Support the planning and execution of off-site events, meetings, and organizational activities.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers and data-visualization specialists to produce cohesive communication products.
  • Review communication materials for accuracy, tone, consistency, and alignment with organizational standards.
  • Maintain editorial calendars, communication schedules, and approval workflows.
  • Advise stakeholders on communication strategies, audience engagement, and message delivery.
  • Track communication activities and recommend improvements based on stakeholder needs and feedback.


Required Skills

  • Active Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional experience providing strategic or executive-level communications support.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership or a front office environment.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and editing executive-level communications.
  • Ability to synthesize complex or sensitive information into concise, audience-appropriate content.
  • Strong writing, editing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience coordinating content across multiple stakeholders and approval channels.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally in support of off-site events and activities.


Desired Skills

  • Experience working in a U.S. Government or Intelligence Community environment.
  • Experience using WordPress or a comparable content management system.
  • Experience supporting a mission center or similarly complex organization.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and graphic design processes.
  • Experience supporting event communications and executive engagements.


Additional Details

Fusion Innovation anticipates the annual base salary for this position will generally range from $100,000 to $215,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to:

  • Years of direct applicable experience with this work and the customer
  • Relevant education, certifications, and training
  • Contract labor category requirements, skill level, contract bill rate, and hours allocation
  • Alignment with the position's responsibilities
  • Additional specialized skills


In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be considered for discretionary bonuses and are eligible for Fusion Innovation's comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, company-sponsored retirement contributions, paid leave, professional development opportunities, and other employee benefits.
