Full Job Description
Position Summary: LA Voice seeks a dynamic, justice-focused communications expert to join our team. This position will build the narrative and digital power of LA Voice, elevating the voices of marginalized communities and communities of faith with a strong coordinated presence in the public arena. Reporting to the Development Director, the Communications Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a communications strategy that will be integrated across all organizational programming, materials, and outreach. Our ideal candidate will have managed communications efforts for grassroots, advocacy-based, political, or religious nonprofits. They will have core competencies in digital organizing and social media, have strong skills in traditional media, and oversee a Multimedia Communications Specialist who leads our graphic, video, and website design work. They will also be prepared to proactively collaborate with co-workers who have diverse levels of experience with technology, social media and communications in order to add a strategic communications lens to everything we do. Essential Functions (to include, but not limited to): - Develop and implement organizational branding and narrative strategy that amplifies the work of LA Voice. - Develop and implement strategy for our social media, website, and email communication across multiple audiences: grassroots leaders, clergy of multiple faiths, donors at all levels, institutional funders and professional peers. - Ensure that all organizational campaigns, events, and programming have a clear, goal-oriented communications strategy that covers all bases, e.g. print and online promotional materials, social media, and earned media. - Build digital advocacy and mobilization strategies that complement our on-the-ground organizing to reach our constituencies and move people to action. - Develop and manage communications strategy for our affiliated 501c(4) organization, LA Voice Action, in collaboration with our Civic Engagement Director. - Analyze metrics and to inform and refine the above. Qualifications: Required: - 5+ years professional experience in communications and media in a nonprofit and/or social-change environment - Experience with digital online platforms like Webflow, adobe creative suite, social media managers , Action Network - Experience with traditional/earned media - Proven track record in developing effective data-informed messaging and branding - Excellent oral and written communication skills and evidence of attention to detail - Demonstrated ability to set goals and manage projects to success - Cultural competence to support and promote a multi-racial, multi-lingual, interfaith environment - Experience with community organizing, either as an organizer or in communications for organizing groups Other Possible Qualifications: - Experience with graphic and/or web design or video production - Fluency in Spanish or other language related to our work - Personal experience with incarceration, undocumented status or homelessness/housing displacement/severe rent burden Compensation and Benefits: - This is a full-time, exempt position. - The job includes evening and weekend work, as well as frequent travel across LA County. - Salary range is $85,000-$110,000 depending upon experience and demonstrated skill. LA Voice's compensation structure was developed from best practices in equitable and transparent compensation, and includes a generous benefits package including matching 401(k); 15 days paid vacation increasing to 20 after three years of service and 25 after five years (plus holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year); and medical, dental, and vision insurance. - Benefits include a comprehensive health plan, generous personal days, and 5% matching 401(k).
