I. JOB OVERVIEW Job Description Summary: Communications and Marketing develops and implements strategies and tactics for showcasing and raising the visibility of the Milken Institute School of Public Health's experts, initiatives, and accomplishments. It manages media inquiries and interviews with senior school leadership and produces print and online publications. The Milken Institute School of Public Health is seeking a dynamic and experienced Communications Associate Director to support all communication and marketing functions with, and reporting to, the Executive Director, Communications and Marketing, GWSPH. This role involves managing various communication channels and working collaboratively within the university's structure to enhance communication and marketing efforts. This position supports the communications strategy for the organization, researches, develops and implements campaigns, and works with leadership and other constituents to communicate and market the school's initiatives, programs, accomplishments, and goals to raise the profile and awareness of the school. This role serves as social media manager, digital content strategist and designer, as a liaison with media relations, and coordinates with the university on communication activities to ensure a consistent and efficient approach to events, initiatives, outreach and communication. The GWSPH Communications Associate Director will support the communications efforts for the Milken Institute School of Public Health (GWSPH) as part of the school's overall communications and marketing functions. The Manager will support management and maintenance of social media, website, newsletters, and other digital marketing efforts in alignment with the overall marketing and communications strategy for the school. The person will also work with other site owners and managers within the university system to design and operate websites within the general framework. The position will work with the GWPSH web developer to evolve the website according to best practices and strategic marketing efforts. Key Responsibilities: Management of Communications Channels: - Manage the school's social media platforms, story development for web, digital screens, newsletters and other marketing efforts - Manage the voice and brand of leadership channels, including Dean's social media, and collaborate with faculty on digital best practices - Organize and maintain the GWSPH intranet for the purpose of information sharing and archives - Experiment with new, creative ways to reach key internal stakeholders with the news and information they care about and drive their engagement in prioritized School/University initiatives Collaboration and Coordination: - Work closely with different departments within the university to ensure a cohesive and unified communication strategy - Coordinate with external stakeholders and partners as needed - Manage the student communications staff program - Create invitation content, event signage, and content for internal/departmental events Reporting and Analysis: - Regularly report on the effectiveness of communication and channel strategies to the Executive Director - Utilize data and analytics to inform decision-making and strategy adjustments Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Ability to work effectively under pressure, ambiguity, and conflicting goals. - Able to interact effectively with a diverse population at all levels, facilitate decision making and conflict resolution, maintain a positive and constructive demeanor, treating all staff, students, faculty and vendors with professionalism, courtesy and respect. - Self-starter, results-oriented leader. - Strong skills in graphic/art and spreadsheet software is desired.
