General Statement of Duties Coordinates the planning, administration and operational readiness of the Fire Department's technology and communications systems to support effective emergency security operations.
QualificationsExperience and Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, plus two (2) years of experience in information and network technology, preferably in emergency management, or a related field.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of information technology systems, emergency communications systems, and public safety technology applications.
Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to public safety communications systems, emergency services technology, and information technology operations.
Demonstrated knowledge of over-the air public safety communications systems, such as land mobile radio (LMR), 800 MHz trunked systems, and FirstNet.
Demonstrated knowledge of computer-based public safety communications systems, such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management Systems (RMS), Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs), and related applications.
Proven ability to work independently and to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a timely manner.
Proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees, supervisors, vendors, and the general public.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to develop and conduct technology training for end users.
Proven ability to perform administrative duties related to technology systems, documentation, and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Works to identify, address and resolve Fire Department technology needs, in coordination with IT departments, vendors and communications systems providers.
Oversees the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of communications systems including radios, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs), Records Management Systems (RMS), EMS reporting platforms, and related applications.
Troubleshoots hardware and software issues affecting field and administrative operations.
Serves as a liaison between the Fire Department and other public safety agencies to support interoperability of shared communications systems.
Coordinates department digital communications, including the management of social media platforms, public-facing technology tools, and related communications system.
Manages user access, permissions, and training for designated public safety technology platforms.
Assists with cybersecurity practices, system security data integrity, access controls, and technology continuity planning.
Represents the Fire Department on the Town of Greenwich Cybersecurity Task Force and ensures the Fire Department is in compliance with task force directives.
Maintains inventory records for technology equipment, communications devices, and related assets.
Coordinates with vendors and service providers regarding system maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and implementation of new technology.
Support emergency communications operations during major incidents and serves as technical liaison in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) when activated.
Responds to emergency incidents and large planned events when technology or communications support is required.
Provides training and technical guidance to Fire Department personnel regarding the use of technology systems and applications.
Monitors emerging public safety technology and communications trends and recommends improvements that enhance operational effectiveness and emergency response capabilities.
Oversees the review and evaluation of emergency response technology systems, procedures, and training practices.
Drafts operating procedures, bulletins, and recommendations for administrative review.
Provides technological support and troubleshooting assistance to the Duty Officer, Fire Chief, or designee.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
