Commodity Manager

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Sourcing, the Commodity Manager is responsible for supporting strategic sourcing activities specifically related a specific commodity assignment. This individual is responsible for development of the global strategy for their specific commodity for all business segments of PVG.
The Commodity Manager serves as the "Single Face to the Supplier" with commercial agreements, performance, development activities, annual cost down activities and cost optimization projects (COP).

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• A thorough knowledge of the commodities purchased, supply sources, contract methods and strategies. Works at a high level of autonomy, with little supervision.
• Providing technical leadership, insight, guidance, and problem-solving skills for technical issues related to sourced material and suppliers.
• Extensive travel to supplier locations, both domestic and international location, interfacing with supplier top management and operations.
• Development of supplier portfolio for assigned commodity to ensure zero defect quality safe launch, on-time delivery and lowest delivered cost.
• Leads the supplier assessment team when evaluating and selecting new suppliers, including supplier site visit.
• Escalation path for systemic supplier performance in delivery, quality, communications or business-related issues affecting production.
• Leadership of the supplier selection team for awarding new business.
• Negotiates annual agreements with selected suppliers to achieve 21-day agility.
• Expected to deliver year over year cost reduction opportunities and drive initiatives for cost optimization at suppliers.
• Monitoring current supplier market conditions, technology roadmaps, and identify supply/demand challenges.
• Support the development and implementation of tactical and strategic commodity plans
• Conducts Annual Strategic Meeting and Quarterly Business Reviews with key suppliers.
• Coordinate with all groups involved (Procurement, Engineering, Quality, Production) to ensure our supply has the capability and capacity to meet the future needs of the business.
• Identify opportunities for developing partnerships with Strategic suppliers and lead projects to improve efficiencies within supply base through the combined efforts of NPI Procurement, Quality and Production.

Requirements/ Qualifications:
• Education - Bachelors' degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Operations Management from a four-year college or university is preferred. Experience accepted in leu of degree
• Minimum of seven (7) years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment
• A strong technical background in manufacturing, quality and purchasing operations is required
• Experience working in a Tier 1 automotive Environment. Must be able to manager T1 and sub suppliers to support production build and Product Cost to quality.
• Experience with APQP procedures, PPAP requirements, and capacity management tools.
• Strong skills with organizational and technical communication; must have the ability to give, receive, and analyze information, formulate work plans, and articulate goals and action plans.
• Fundamental Cost Analysis Experience
• Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Basic Financial Analysis in ROI
• Strong teamwork capabilities
• Strong project management skills
• Willing and Required to travel in North America and Asia (40%-50%)
