Work Status ( Remote/Hybrid/In-Office ) : Remote

COMMISSIONING MANAGER

SUMMARY

The Commissioning Manager is responsible for overseeing all commissioning activities performed at assigned project sites. They will be responsible for adherence to contractually obligated conditions and timelines as they pertain to the commissioning scope of work, while ensuring safety and quality are achieved. This may include coordination with key contacts such as utilities, construction and safety teams, suppliers, and sub-contractors. The Commissioning Manager will collaborate with the contracting and design teams to ensure commissioning requirements, deliverables, and schedules are deemed appropriate . In this capacity, the Commissioning Manager will lead the development of the junior commissioning personnel in the performance of commissioning activities; to include troubleshooting, testing, energization, and startup of power plant equipment. This position reports to the Senior Commissioning Manager , or another management personnel that the CEO of the Company may designate . This position is remote located in Ankeny, IA office and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. This position is expected to travel up to 75 %.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review contracts, subcontracts, and project drawings to ensure contracted deliverables are understood, met, and align with internal commissioning requisites.
  • Manage Commissioning Scopes across multiple projects, to include creating site-specific commissioning schedules, plans, testing documents and start-up procedures.
  • Execute, maintain, and enforce Qcells Safety Procedures and Protocols.
  • Coordinate and perform commissioning activities, providing daily project status reports.
  • Engage in daily/weekly interactions with peer departments, subcontractors, equipment vendors, and customer entities.
  • Preparation of plans at beginning of projects for receiving, storing, and managing materials , PPE, and tools as required.
  • Manage and provide training to junior commissioning technicians, to include performing electrical testing and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain commissioning deliverables, logs, equipment checklists , and LOTO logs.
  • Coordinate and perform energization, start-up and troubleshooting of substations and commissioned field equipment, to include generating methods of procedures.
  • Ability to manage time and work priorities independently.
  • Work cross departmentally to ensure the commissioning teams have all necessary tools to safely and efficiently perform commissioning services.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by Management


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of commissioning or electrical experience in renewable energy .
  • Experience and ability to lead remote teams .
  • Experience and ability to effectively communicate with all key stakeholders throughout the organization (Engineering, Construction, Contracting, Leadership), key vendors and clients.
  • OSHA 30 Certification .
  • NFPA 70.E Certification .
  • Practical and applicable knowledge of the electrical requirements of a utility-scale PV system, to include substation and PV field components, testing requirements and test equipment used.
  • Practical and applicable knowledge of Commissioning & Electrical Standards ( NETA, IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, NERC) .
  • High understanding of SCADA infrastructure .
  • Understanding of relay testing and commissioning processes
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite .
  • Flexible schedule and willingness to travel when needed .
  • Project Site Requirements:
    • Ability to work outdoors, exposed to the elements .
    • Will sit, stand, walk short distances, and climb stairs on an occasional basis .
    • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry on a frequent basis; maximum of 40 lbs. lifting .
    • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures .
    • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis, to include kneeling or bending .


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Electrical Engineering Degree or degree of equivalent applicability
  • NETA Level I, II , or III Certification or certification of equivalent applicability
  • Inverter Manufacturer Troubleshooting Training
