Job Summary

The Field Commissioning Manager will be assigned to a project(s) and will be primarily responsible for planning and overseeing the execution of the pre-commissioning, commissioning and performance testing activities for liquefied hydrocarbon facilities and other types of facilities designed and constructed by Matrix. These projects could consist of cryogenic tanks, turnkey cryogenic facilities, or Thermal vacuum chambers. These facilities are utilized by the gas and aerospace industries.
Essential Functions
  • Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."
  • Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company's "Code of Business Conduct and Ethics."
  • Participates in certain key design activities such as P&ID reviews and 3D model reviews to provide input from a pre-commissioning and commissioning perspective.
  • Develops detailed plans and schedules for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, and ties such into the detailed construction schedule.
  • Organizes and leads, in compliance with company procedures, the pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities that are occurring at the jobsite.
  • Develop commissioning and support team personnel on-site throughout pre-commissioning and commissioning phases of a project.
  • Implements and manages a Lock Out, Tagout System during the pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Oversees the generation and compilation of the documentation (signoff sheet) required to document pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Supports the Construction Manager in the preparation of final handover documentation packages and in the execution of safety and turnover review meetings with pre-commissioning and commissioning content.
  • Schedules and coordinates, in concert with ongoing construction and pre-commissioning activities, all equipment suppliers' or other third-party service technician work and visits.
  • Coordinates owner involvement in pre-commissioning and commissioning as per company standards and per the owner's contractual rights and obligations.
  • Schedules and coordinates all first fill activities, as relevant for the facility.
  • Develops a detailed plan and schedule for the execution of performance test activities and develops associated test procedures.
  • Organizes and leads the performance tests at the jobsite. Oversees the generation of the performance test reports and any other documentation required to document the successful completion of the performance tests.
  • Assists in the preparation of estimates for pre-commissioning, commissioning, and performance testing activities.
  • In between job site assignments, will be assigned to a Matrix PDM office to perform proposal development and project engineering tasks in support of current projects.
  • Travels to meetings with customers and vendors as required.
  • Works on special projects and performs other related duties, as directed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in an Engineering or Engineering Technology discipline; or equivalent combination of education/experience in lieu of degree.
  • 8+ years of experience in heavy industrial construction, including 5+ years of experience leading pre-commissioning, commissioning, and performance testing activities.
  • Knowledge of industrial construction as it pertains to the petrochemical, gas, or aerospace industries.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work on multiple activities at one time.
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel and MS Word, are preferred.
  • Ability to travel for project work for extended periods.
