BMO Commercial Banking is embarking on a multiyear transformation to redefine how it delivers value to clients and empowers its people. This role sits at the center of that journey.

As a Commercial Transformation Consultant, you will operate as an internal strategy and transformation advisor to senior leadersshaping the vision, structuring the roadmap, and driving alignment across the enterprise. You will combine strategy consulting rigor, executive storytelling, and handson execution to ensure transformation efforts translate into meaningful business outcomes.

This is a highimpact role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, influences without authority, and can move seamlessly from boardlevel narrative to operational detail.

Your Mandate

Define the 2 North Star2 for Commercial Banking

  • Develop and articulate a clear, compelling transformation narrative that explains why change is required, what the future looks like, and how the bank will get there.
  • Ensure transformation initiatives are explicitly linked to client value, employee experience, and strategic objectives.

Architect the Transformation Agenda

  • Design and maintain an enterprise-aligned transformation roadmap, supported by OKRs and clear success measures.
  • Integrate major initiatives (e.g., customer selfservice, lending transformation, operating model evolution) into a cohesive, sequenced plan.
  • Pressuretest feasibility, identify dependencies, and inform leadership decisionmaking.

Act as a Trusted Advisor to Senior Leaders

  • Serve as a forwarddeployed consultant to Commercial Banking leadership, helping define priorities, clarify tradeoffs, and align on future capabilities.
  • Prepare executiveready materials and storytelling for the Commercial Banking Transformation Committee (CBTC) and related forums.
  • Lead and structure CBTC monthly planning, progress, and alignment sessions.

Drive Real ChangeBeyond Technology

  • Ensure transformation efforts address operating model implications, including roles, governance, processes, and ways of working.
  • Drive clarity on what must change in how the business operatesnot just what systems are implemented.
  • Help leaders move from strategy decks to executable actions.

  • Former or current management consultant, or equivalent experience in strategy, transformation, or internal advisory roles.

  • Demonstrated experience building and executing largescale transformation agendas.
  • Comfort operating with senior executives and influencing diverse stakeholders.
  • Pragmatic, actionoriented, and intellectually curious.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Groups expected target for the first year in this position.
