TheRole: Commercial Specialist, Gas & Power Insights
The Team: This Commercial Specialist supports sales of electricity market application subscriptions sold by S&P Energy. The ideal candidate has strong data skills, short-term power trading experience and enough market knowledge to understand power plant cash flows and valuations.
Responsibilities and Impact:
- Master how to use the power market tools/applications offered by S&P Energy.
- Work with the wider commercial team to support sales of these power market tools/applications by participating in diagnosis calls to determine the use case for the power market tools/applications.
- Once the use case has been established, demonstrate to potential clients how these power market tools/applications.
- After the initial purchase, urgently respond to client questions about how to use these tools/applications.
- Meet/exceed sales goals and document activities and accomplishments in internal systems to support annual performance reviews.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience in short-term power trading, optimizing energy, ancillary services, capacity, and environmental attributes across nodal and zonal markets
- Hands-on experience with power plant valuation, siting and origination, M&A, or project finance analytics, including modeling battery, solar, wind, and gas assets, along with familiarity with renewable resource concepts such as capacity factor, ELCC, and captured price
- Strong data and technical skills with programming languages such as Python, API technologies like REST, and cloud platforms including but not limited to GCP, Databricks, Snowflake, and SQL databases
- Ability to understand client workflows and align solutions with S&P Energy applications, including experience with data formats such as JSON and AI interface technologies
- Experience supporting multiple delivery channels, including spreadsheet applications like Excel, flat file formats, cloud platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake, API technologies like REST, and conversational interfaces including AI chat tools
- Consultative selling experience with technical and modeling-intensive buyers, including teams focused on market analytics, data science, valuation and M&A, and origination functions, with ability to articulate differentiated value propositions
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $83,150 to $110,602. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. Commission incentive based on meeting Sales goals. This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.

Compensation/BenefitsInformation: (This section is only applicable to Canadian Candidates:) S&P Global states that the anticipated range of compensation for this position is 93,600 CAD to 132,000 CAD. Final compensation for this role will be based on the individuals performance, geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
