Job Description Summary
The Commercial Finance Leader – Heavy Duty New Units will be the senior finance partner to the commercial organization, helping shape disciplined growth in a fast-moving business where commercial performance is a visible marker of enterprise execution and investor confidence.

This role will help the business keep pace with strong market demand while anticipating commercial, financial, and execution risks before they materialize. The leader will bring rigor to deal economics, customer commitments, risk-adjusted decision-making, and performance forecasting, while enabling the organization to continue capturing market opportunities with speed and discipline.

The ideal candidate brings deep commercial finance experience in the energy or power generation sector, strong judgment in complex deal environments, and a proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams. They must be comfortable operating at both a strategic enterprise level and a detailed transaction level, moving seamlessly from portfolio choices and market priorities to specific deal risks, economics, and resolutions.

Job Description

  • Partner with commercial and business leadership to support growth choices, customer strategy, and portfolio prioritization with strong financial insight.
  • Bring discipline to deal reviews, approval recommendations, and investment decisions while enabling speed and responsiveness in a competitive market.
  • Translate commercial pipeline dynamics into actionable financial views for leadership, including risks, opportunities, sensitivities, and trade-offs.
  • Ensure commercial finance processes support sustainable growth, strong execution quality, and long-term value creation.

2) Risk Anticipation and Deal Discipline

  • Anticipate commercial, financial, customer, contractual, and execution risks early in the opportunity lifecycle and ensure they are reflected in recommendations and decisions.
  • Develop risk-adjusted views of deal economics and help leadership evaluate downside scenarios, mitigation options, and decision paths.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate deal structure, financial protections, and execution assumptions.
  • Monitor portfolio-level risk trends and proactively escalate emerging issues, concentration risks, and material changes in market or execution conditions.
  • Drive post-decision learning to continuously improve bid quality, deal discipline, and commercial finance effectiveness.

3) Portfolio Prioritization and Market Execution

  • Provide finance leadership on portfolio prioritization, ensuring commercial choices are grounded in value, profitability, cash generation, strategic importance, and execution readiness.
  • Support leadership decisions on customer commitments, capacity trade-offs, opportunity timing, and resource allocation without disclosing sensitive internal constraints externally.
  • Build decision frameworks that balance growth ambition with risk discipline, customer value, execution feasibility, and enterprise outcomes.
  • Partner across commercial, product, supply chain, operations, legal, and finance teams to resolve trade-offs and enable timely decisions.
  • Maintain a forward-looking view of demand, conversion, readiness, and performance to support the business in capturing market share responsibly.

  • Translate market demand, customer activity, and opportunity progression into clear financial forecasts and executive insights.
  • Drive high-quality operating rhythms, including forecast reviews, variance analysis, scenario modeling, and performance reporting.
  • Partner with business leadership to identify actions that improve deal quality, profitability, cash conversion, and execution confidence.
  • Provide concise, CFO-level reporting on performance drivers, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.

5) Leadership and Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Act as a strategic finance partner to commercial and business leadership while maintaining independent judgment, financial rigor, and strong governance discipline.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing commercial finance team with clear priorities, strong operating mechanisms, and a culture of accountability.
  • Create an environment that combines speed, transparency, challenge, and collaboration in support of high-quality decision-making.
  • Influence across functions and levels, including senior leadership, while remaining close enough to the details to help resolve specific deal and execution topics.
