CNC Machinist (on-site)

What You Will Do

Johnson Controls is seeking to fill the position CNC Machinist, based in one of our advanced R&D facilities located in Cranston, RI.

The CNC Machinist will support R&D engineering activities by producing fixturing, prototypes, and small production runs. You will work closely with engineers to align on design intent, machinability, and critical characteristics.

How You Will Do It

  • Set up, program, and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision components for R&D projects.


  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and 3D models to determine machining strategies.


  • Perform manual machining operations (lathe, mill, surface grinder) when required for secondary operations or basic, low volume tasks.


  • Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measurement tools to verify conformance to specifications.


  • Maintain equipment, tooling, and work areas to ensure safe and efficient operation.


What We Look For
Required

  • Associate's degree, technical certificate, or equivalent experience in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field.


  • Hands-on experience programming and operating CNC mills and/or lathes in a prototype or production environment.


  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical documentation.


  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools and inspection techniques.


  • US Citizen and/or permanent resident.


Preferred

  • Experience working with Haas and Trak lathes/mills.


  • Experience using SolidCAM.


  • Experience within the fire protection industry.


COMPENSATION RANGE: $30/hr - $48/hr (Compensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
