Full Job Description
Start the Best Work of Your Career at Boom

At Boom, we're building something that's never been done before - the world's fastest airliner, designed and built by a small team with outsized impact. Every rivet, bracket, and machined assembly depends on a supply base that can match our pace and precision.

As a CNC Applications Engineer focused on metallic fabrication, you'll transform engineering designs into reality by ensuring production readiness and optimizing cycle times without compromise. This role demands hands-on problem solving on the shop floor, where uptime and accuracy are non-negotiable in driving our success.

If you thrive at the intersection of engineering and manufacturing - and want to help build out one of the most modern machining centers around, this is the place for you.

Role Overview

  • Translate complex engineering designs into manufacturable parts using both high-speed CNCs and manual machines.
  • Develop and prove out CNC programs and fixturing solutions that guarantee repeatable, high-precision results.
  • Balance optimizing cycle time, surface finish, and tool life to ensure peak performance and quality.
  • Apply expertise in multi-axis machining to handle complex geometries and challenging designs.
  • Solve real-time machining challenges on the shop floor, ensuring cutters and fixtures meet design specifications.
  • Explore and integrate the latest machines, cutters, and CAM techniques to advance our machining capabilities.
  • Lead improvements in GD&T understanding to enhance machining accuracy and consistency.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven ability to lead technical projects, interface directly with engineers and machinists, and drive collaborative solutions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Deep expertise in high-precision machining within aerospace or similar industries.
  • Proven ability to develop innovative fixturing solutions for previously unmachinable parts.
  • Relentless drive for optimization and innovation in machining processes.
  • Demonstrates fearless curiosity, consistently exploring new tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and ambition, complemented by effective collaboration skills in a team setting
  • Excels in a high-energy, independent, and challenging work environment

What Will Set You Apart

  • Track record of applying multi-axis machining expertise to transform challenging designs.
  • Experience balancing cycle time, surface finish, and tool life for peak performance.
  • Hands-on problem-solving on the shop floor, with a focus on real-time machining solutions.
