Cloud Software Engineer
Location: Worthing, SD Department: Engineering Job Type: Full-Time
About the Role
We're looking for a Cloud Software Engineer to design, build, and support backend services, APIs, and cloud-based applications using C#, .NET, and Microsoft Azure. You'll independently own features from development through deployment and operational support, contribute to technical design conversations, and help ship reliable, production-ready software.
If you want to write real production code, own your features end to end, and grow alongside a team that's actively modernizing its platform, this is a great next step.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, test, and maintain backend services, APIs, and application components using C# and .NET
- Build and support cloud-hosted solutions in Microsoft Azure, using compute, storage, messaging, and identity services
- Contribute to technical design and implementation decisions for features and services, with an eye toward scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainability
- Write clean, secure, well-tested production code and actively participate in peer code reviews
- Collaborate with product managers, QA, and other engineers to turn requirements into effective technical solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve defects, performance issues, and production incidents across application, cloud, and data layers
- Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release processes
- Use logging, monitoring, and alerting tools to improve observability and operational support
- Document technical designs, implementation details, and support procedures
- Provide guidance to less experienced engineers through code reviews, collaboration, and knowledge sharing
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field - or equivalent practical experience
- 3-5 years of professional software engineering experience building and supporting production applications
- Strong proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem, including modern application development patterns
- Hands-on experience developing, deploying, and supporting applications or services in Microsoft Azure
- Experience building REST APIs, service integrations, and data-driven applications with attention to reliability and maintainability
- Solid understanding of relational databases, SQL, data modeling, and ORM frameworks such as Entity Framework or Entity Framework Core
- Experience with source control, automated testing, CI/CD, and standard software development lifecycle practices
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across application and cloud environments
- Ability to work independently on defined technical problems while collaborating effectively within a team
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with ASP.NET Core, background services, microservices, or event-driven architectures
- Experience with Azure services such as App Service, Functions, Azure SQL, Service Bus, Storage Accounts, Key Vault, Application Insights, Monitor, and Entra ID
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with infrastructure as code, environment automation, or configuration management
- Understanding of observability, distributed tracing, caching, messaging patterns, and performance tuning
- Experience supporting modernization efforts or cloud migrations
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or interns
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, documentation, or productivity
- Microsoft Azure certifications
